New site, new links, new rules

By My status Nick Wright on August 21, 2008 in .

Our all singing, all dancing new and improved affiliate site

We're all about improving communication at Skype, so in an attempt to improve our own we've updated the affiliate site. About time too, we hear you say.

Our aim is to give you all the support you need to optimise your sites so this should be a big help.

Here's just some of the stuff we've included:

  • Much simpler and clearer explanations of How to join and How it works - some people still don't realise how easy it is to make money as an affiliate
  • Pages showing you What we pay plus clear descriptions of our products so you can work out which are most appropriate for your visitors
  • A detailed Selling Guide giving tips and advice on how to optimise your affiliate business model to earn more money from Skype purchases
  • An easier-to-use affiliate linkbuilder that creates deeplinks to specific pages on skype.com encoded with your affiliate ID
  • A new affiliate blog - this thing right here! - with up-to-date news and tips & tricks - subscribe to the RSS feed in the right-hand navigation and you'll get the news as it happens

Don't miss out on sales

We're currently conducting a link audit to ensure all affiliates are using correctly tagged links. All links on Commission Junction and Tradedoubler are in the process of being updated.

If you've altered the destination URL from a preset Skype banner or text advert, you need to return to http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/business/partners/affiliate/linkbuilder/ to generate the new the link.

To ensure you're not missing any future sales, it's essential that your links are updated before 15th September 2008.

You should soon be receiving an e-mail from your network to explain more about this.

The small print, always the small print

We like to keep the lawyers on their toes so we've revised our Terms & Conditions to highlight important aspects regarding compensation as well as our Paid Search policy.

Please take the time to read through these new terms thoroughly. The next time you log into your Commission Junction or Tradedoubler account you must accept them in order to remain on the program. If you have any questions please e-mail your network contact for further assistance.

That's it. Enjoy the new site and all our latest news and developments. And if you have any thoughts regarding the changes, feel free to post them right here.

Earn 25% commission on our new subscriptions

By My status Nick Wright on July 21, 2008 in .

From June 1st, we raised affiliate commission from 10% to 25%. Since we launched these subscriptions, we've seen daily sales exceed our expectations and a huge rise in sales from both new customers and returning customers. We know users love subscriptions, so it's only natural we help you earn more money when selling them.

Here's a brief recap on the subscriptions:

  • Subscriptions include unlimited calls to landlines in selected countries* making it easier and cheaper for people to call friends and family who aren't yet on Skype.
  • Customers can make up to 10,000 minutes of calls to landlines per month in up to 34 countries*. That means they would have to call for a quarter of each month to use up their minutes.
  • There are different calling subscriptions (for example, Unlimited Country, Unlimited Europe or North America and Unlimited World) and customers can choose three payment options - monthly, quarterly or annual.

You now earn 25% on any subscription purchased, which raises the commission to the same level as Skype Credit and online numbers.

Click here to find out more about subscriptions.

You'll find text links and deep links available in your affiliate account on Commission Junction. Banners will be available soon.

So how do the new subscriptions compare to Skype Credit?

Our customers now have a choice between paying monthly with the new calling subscriptions or Pay As You Go with Skype Credit. Customers will still need to buy Skype Credit to send SMS or to call mobiles and landlines in countries outside of their subscription.

This means you'll be earning commission from both subscriptions and Skype credit
