Business users wanted for a Skype study

By My status Scott Davison on October 27, 2008 in .

We are currently conducting a user study to better understand the needs of business users and help us develop the right products and solutions to meet these needs.

We are particularly interested in businesses that are using an IP-PBX for making outgoing international calls.

If you represent a company that uses an IP-PBX and you are willing to participate in an online user study, please go here to apply for the study.

Your valuable input would be greatly appreciated and will help us create the right solutions to meet your current and future needs.

Hi Scott,

I started to fill in your survey and realised we don't qualify, yet! However, we are a 3 site NZ Company (60 employee's) and I have the job of designing our new IP system. We are in the Telecommunications Industry and I'm looking into our options. I'm a personal Skype User and if I can find away to include this into the project, I see major advantages for us moving forward. We are looking at an IP System that will support IP Trunks and also SIP Trunks. We have direct access to the manufacturer and also the techs onsite to manage the process. Our biggest issue is bandwidth and also that we resell traditional telco services...! Any advice or questions? skype me!

Regards,
Steve

The most important thing in business is missing from skype. IN any business you would not want to give away your business contacts.

If you are a broker you would not want to give away your clients contact details.

But then you would want to communicate with all parties. Conference calling on an old fashioned telephone allows you to set up a phone call between your client and perhaps another broker who does not know who that client is or in some cases key contractor or supplier, but you might want to discuss a specififcation or detail that requires all parties to come on a conference call.

What skype needs is a way in which a business can set up a conference call without the other parties seeing all the details of all the parties this can be a feature which can be switched on or off.

Ie Private conference call where the only parties details shown is the host, the other parties are invited in but do not show up with their contact details or their skype handles.

Then you have have what you already have which is a public conference call where everyone who participate son the conference call can see each others details.

This would allow a business to use skype without loosing their valuable contacts and sources for theri business.

Skype private conference calling would allow business to be done using skype in confidence that all participants can input into the discussion at the same time protecting the business from having its staff or its suppliers poached.

For example you have a weapons engineer on a skype call and you would never want his contact details released for security reasons as well.
