Mac OS X API now available

By My status  on August 11, 2005 in Developer Blog.

We are very pleased to announce the avialability of the Skype API for Mac OS X.

To use this you should first..

  • Download the latest Skype for Mac. API is supported in version 1.0.0.46 or greater - so the current non beta version is not supported at the moment.

  • Download Skype.framework and sample code

  • Review the Skype API protocol documentation.

Skype API for Mac OS X has currently Cocoa, Carbon and AppleScript interfaces. Cocoa and Carbon interfaces are implemented in Skype.framework. The recommended way to use the Skype framework is to include it in your application as an embedded framework. Copy it into your application bundle and link it to your application.

For more information have at look at the documentation

Very nice indeed ...

Just made a little Filemaker 7 db with some Applescript command to control Skype.
You can download it from my site : http://www.gekiere.com/skype_as.zip

May be this is not the right point for this question, but is it possible to show the os compatibility of the developed plug-ins in the Extras Gallery?

There is a problem with GET AUDIO_IN, GET AUDIO_OUT and GET RINGER when using the example app on OS X 10.4.2 and the latest Skype Beta for OS X - it doesn't recognise the AUDIO_IN, AUDIO_OUT and RINGER 'whats'.

Fine, now can somebody please write something comparable to jive and vskype?

It would help Mac users a lot if the extras gallery listed the applicable OS for every application, now that we have >1 of them. Particularly, I would like to be able to search/browse within the Mac apps only.

Ricky

I spent some time yesterday playing around with the Skype API because I wanted to see if I can initiate text-to-speech calls for a project we have in development. Seems like the Mac OS X API, like the Skype app itself, lags a little behind the Window... [Read More]
