Latest Extras

By My status  on October 10, 2005 in Developer Blog.

Today we have a couple more entries in to the extras gallery for you – keep them coming!

Integrates Skype and GroupWise

By Toffa

This plug-in brings all your Skype and GroupWise contacts together in one handy place. That means you will be able to call Skype contacts that email you, make SkypeOut calls to your contacts who aren’t on Skype yet… all through the plug-in.

Get it here.

BBO SkypeStateManager

By Johannes Freyberger

Enables you to publish the Skype status of your contacts on a webpage, also gives you the chance to override their status, for example you can display them as offline even if they are online.

Lots of good uses for this one, you can show the availability of your team for example.

Get it here.

Once in a while a something is submitted that blows all my nice neat extras gallery categories away.

This not a plug-in as such but interesting all the same, so I added it to the Hardware and Sample Code categories (yeah I know it’s neither of these, but it has to go somewhere).

Build your own Skype phone

By Chris

If you’re technically minded, handy with a soldering iron, and have a spare wireless phone sitting around, then why not build yourself a Skype phone?

Take any wireless phone you have around the home or office.

For example, one of these:

Open it up and abuse it with your soldering iron:

And if all goes well, you'll have one of these:

Read about how Chris built his phone here.

And a the risk of sounding like one of those tacky American TV advertisements...

Remember that the extras gallery is your place to upload your applications and to share them with the Skype community.

Applications in the extras gallery have not been endorsed or certified by Skype in any way and should be used entirely at your own risk.

And if you do decide to take your phone apart and break it, don't say Lester made me do it.

It would be nice if you would make a plugin that would forward calls using normal landline (over a built in modem). In some cases it cheaper then SkypeOut. It could also be used to call people over modem (using Skype), and to make conference calls (one call over modem other over internet). I hope it isn't to difficult to make that kind of plugin. Thanks.

Zvonimir, this is exactly what I was going to start writing. This is why I came to the site to see what information there is. I still do not know how hard it would be...
