Arrived in San Jose

By My status  on March 9, 2006 in Developer Blog.

Just in case you were thinking I disappeared of the face of the planet

My hotel in San Diego only allowed me to get a wireless connection if I a sat on the floor by the door. Shame really as I had a huge suite complete with bedroom, kitchen and living room and ended up sitting on the floor when I needed to do some work.

I moved out a day early to San Jose. Being an idiot I booked a flight to San Francisco and ended up getting with a $100 bus ride to the hotel. Oh well.

The new hotel is even bigger than the last and has an internet connection (hurrah) but… they don’t do room service. So today I am going to go out to the supermarket and get some supplies. I can’t help think I am doing this business trip all wrong. Surely I should be dining in fine restaurants and living it up. Perhaps I am just getting old.

I am also without a car, I don’t feel brave enough to drive around alone as I have never been good with directions. With my luck I would go out for a drive and never be able to find the hotel again. I would end up living rough on the streets when the gas runs out.

So I am limited in my ability to get around. That makes a mess of my plans to meet up with people for beers while I am out here.

SkypeWeb

I know there were problems with SkypeWeb over the last few days. I’m a bit remote from the problem here, but from what I understand the traffic suddenly went up by over 300% and we weren’t able to cope with the unanticipated load.

I know the guys have been working on the problem and have taken the necessary steps to add additional capacity to cope with the demand and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

My apologies if you were inconvenienced.

Lester,

I posted to your previous posting that you were coming to USA and invited to help you when you were in San Fran/San Jose. We were offering you a place to stay and help with mobility. Still can help if you wish.

My name is Kory Lovre of www.cambioelmundo.org and www.ReggaetonFest2006.com and www.WhosOnFirstProd.com and we plan to use Skype for Cambio to randomly connect people up around the world just to say hello to each other for a few minutes.

I still have not found the Skype Client API that I was told by Jaanus was a part of the download - one of my friends finally did however in the latest download.

I have asked to be added to your buddy list. I'm in NYC right now but will be home in San Jose Monday evening (I'm flying into San Jose unlike you - I think you can see now why I need to start a website to help share rides from the airport - it doesn't make any sense that the ride to the airport costs more than the flight from San Diego to San Jose :-( now does it).

Anyway - hope to meet up with you while you are in my town. Thanks. Kory
