New Skype Certified products in July

By My status Kristo Aav on July 19, 2007 in Partners and developers, Partners and developers.

In July there have been certified the following new software products:

Vapps High Speed Conferencing

An application that enables users to have conference calls with up to 500 participants. There is a +99 number for every registered user. To start a conference, user must send one’s +99 number to the other participants, either other Skype users or regular telephone users, and the others must dial in. During a call participants can ask the number of all participants, mute and unmute themselves and change their volume level by DTMF tones. Host can also mute and unmute all the other participants and lock and unlock the conference, both by DTMF tones and from application window. Technically the conference is hosted not from host’s PC but from server, therefore it doesn’t apply much pressure on local computer. Vapps High Speed Conferencing needs Microsoft .NET installed.

CrazyTalk

CrazyTalk is not a new product, first time it was certified in the beginning of 2006 already but their latest version contains new features like media and Desktop sharing. It means that if previously user had options to show the other party either one’s actual video picture or animation, then now one can show also movies, photos, documents, system settings or just some areas from the Desktop. On media and Desktop sharing user can set resolution and frame rate, to find suitable combination of movement speed and picture quality.

API Requirements Extension

By My status  on July 13, 2007 in Developer Blog.

As its holiday season we want to make sure that all developers get a chance to add their comments to the API requirements list so we are extending the deadline until the end of the month.

If you have any comments on the kind of APIs you would like to see us add to Skype then please add them here:

API roadmap for 2008 and beyond

By My status  on July 6, 2007 in Developer Blog.

Last year the major focus of the Skype Developer Program was to bring you a route to market for your applications. We delivered this in the form of the Extras Manager which we launched in December with amazing success. (If you look at the latest stats, over 24 million extras have been downloaded by customers since the launch).

Recently we enabled the final piece of the route to market puzzle by turning on our payment collection capabilities which means users can purchase your application directly with Skype credits and the money you earn will be paid into your PayPal account.

It’s now time for us to look beyond Extras and collect requirements for the platform for 2008 and beyond, and we are looking for your input.

For some of you the requirements may simply be 1 or 2 new APIs that would either save you loads of code, or just enable you to build that killer feature. For others the requirements maybe an entirely new set of features.

Nether the less if you want to input in to the future of the Skype platform please give us your ideas/requirements by leaving your comments here https://developer.skype.com/wiki/2008ApiRequirements by the 13th July so requests can be collated.

Of course leaving a comment does not absolutely guarantee that your feature will be developed but if you are on the list then at least it gets considered.
