The choice of emoticons depends a lot on how you have decided to position Skype: if you're looking to expand its business use, the emoticons should be informative and not just hilarious and "in your face" such as the "finger" idea versus the "smoke from the ears"

I like the YAHOO emoticons for APPLAUSE and BIG HUG

Something to denote $ would be handy.

Animation is nice, but it will be very-very nice if emoticons plays only in current message that you read now and freeze after it, when you start to answer.
More emoticons is good idea, but in this case user must have option to edit the list.

More animated pics because they are very common, so we need more animated pics. for example: i Love you.

I have the latest version of Skype for OSX but there seems to be a total shortage of emoticons for us Apple users. I can't even see some of the ones that I am sent from the windows users and just get a word which is a bit dull. Can you please update our version too and put all those new funky ones in our update? I'd be a much happier Skype user then

I like emoticons, but i'd rather prefer to have an option to: deactivate animations or deactivate them all ALSO from GUI. The same thing for the font selection options in the GUI. There is too waste of space.

Besides, the old-fashioned text emoticons are more fun and creative.

Why aren't the emoticons available for Mac users? Fix that first before you start adding more.

But I´m not here to say YOU obvious facts. In fact, I'm here just to let you know that I really didn´t like the new animated emoticons. I strongly prefer the static ones. Please permit me to give you a suggestion. For the next version, please give us the option to have the old ones emoticons.

I use Skype most for businesscommunication and I loved the old set of non-animated emoticons. I don't like the new set of animated emoticons, because they are very restless. Emoticons have a very important role in chatcommunication so I think there should be at least a possibility to switch between a static and an animated set. But I prefere to remove the animated set permanently. Maybe you can make a poll to check users preference?

I have been working with the tsunami reconstruction for the past 5 months and Skype is the best way for me to talk with my 5 year old and 2 year old in the US. As neither of them can write, and my youngest is just speaking, using emoticons (my kids call them "stickers") while talking at the same time is the only way they stay interested in the computer. I need more stickers, and especially the animated ones, as these keep me connected to my family better than anything else available!

These are cool but how come they don't animate on my MAC when friend sends them from PC ?

I think this is the main problem ldelphim, I dont think you can download any additional emotionicons into skype. I find this very irritating.. and makes MSN more of a winner in thiss regards. If Ant one knows of a way to add additional emoticons please let us know

There needs to be an animated "Braveheart" emoticon. With the face half painted blue, and the animation is that he starts to yell while raising his little sword. You can use the words (melgibson) for it to appear.

What's about sharing emoticons format? I mean... let us create our ones. We could create libraries to share with friends. If the receiver has not it, he/she can ask for it and update his/her library.

I think you should put some anime character emoticons or atleast make a program that allows you to put whatever emoticon you want in skype.

An emoticon with a *gun to its head* would be wonderful.

Yes Emoticons are good for expression with expressionless text : ] I wider palette would be great for all sorts of applications from fun, romantic, business etc and can be useful. I love the ones you currently have and feel your already on a great start.

The option to upload emoticons would be useful and even a skype approved emoticon making tool for good link bait : ]
