Skype gaining acceptance for business use

> According to a recent research program by Wainhouse Research, 70% of panelists who had used Skype in the last six months found the service acceptable for business calls.
On the graph, you can see that only 5% find the quality non-acceptable. And we're working as hell to squash all remaining quality issues for good.
Although Skype does have some offerings for businesses like [Skype Groups](http://www.skype.com/products/skypegroups/), we do not currently focus specifically on business use. We continue to make something that is delightful for people to call each other, regardless of whether it is for business purposes or not. And when in the process we manage to make something good enough that businesses find acceptable, as we know many small and large businesses do, that's good to know.

the demo and sample code is helpful - which version of skypeapi.dll you are using and where did you download it? I downloaded the latest one from http://projects.khaoslabs.com/skypeapi but not able to compile the source in visual studio .Net 2005, and the skypeapi.dll is not included.

I really wish you guys would get more business applications included with skype. I've said this once, but I'll say it again: How long will it be before you use SkypeIn to generate a fax machine? You've already got the local telephone numbers, just get me PDF output instead of voice. Someone at the Skype office, please listen...... You've got a customer waiting, wanting more of the good stuff....

I think that to enter the market of business calls, the skype developers have to create a new function for skype groups that can replace traditional telephone systems used in small offices and enterprises...
This new function enables the skype group administrator (or another type of user) to receive all the calls for his group and to deviate them to the other users with complete logging of all the incoming/outgoing calls.
Another important feature is the auto recharge of the skype group credit if paid with a credit card... When the credit goes under a setted level the system automatically charges a setted aumount of credit and sends the invoice to the skype group administrator.
This features in combination with skype in/out and voicemail services will make the difference also in the business calls market!
Good job...

We tried to use Skype on our server for the main office line but it cannot be left alone as it is necessary to deal with popups which eventually backup crashing Skype. A more robust server version is needed or a standalone Skype Server that doesn't need a PC to receive and make calls.
Agree with Andrea's comments....
...otherwise Skype is brilliant and saving our business a lot of money especially the overseas calls....

We're a small company with only a handful of people spread over various locations in different countries and use Skype extensively to internal communication as well as communication with customers from more than 30 different countries.
To solve that task we need either Skype or a $100,000 phone system. However Skype still has a long way to go to really be ideal for small businesses (and larger business for that matter). Some of the things that we are really missing is the opportunity to forward a call to a colleague (that is after I pick it up and talk to the caller) and also to move SkypeIn numbers from user to user. Additionally a fax would be nice, but even more important is the administration of the group where Skype Groups is only a tiny step in the right direction.
And the quality is generally high, but the occasional bad connection still keeps me thinking not to phone up potential first-time customers with Skype.
With all the E-bay gazillions in the back it probably matters less, but there is no doubt that we business users would be prepared to pay much more than we do today for high quality business services. Probably much more than teenage girls are willing to pay for ring-tones and WeeMees.

I love Skype for personal use and would really like to use it for business but to do so I need a non geogrphic (0845) number to use Skypein in the UK. My company receives revenue for having an 0845 number so I'm sure Skype would earn from this facility. Whilst waiting for Skype to offer this I have signed up to and inferior Voip operator...........

I've been using Skype for a couple of months. Needed something quick, and the SkypeIn service solved the problem.
However.... haven't found it to be anywhere near reliable enough for business use, and the answerphone currently does not work. Customers report they have left messages, but nothing shows in Skype. I raised a support request four days ago now and have heard nothing.
I will be talking to a regular landline provider in the new year. You get what you pay for - it's a shame because potentially Skype is a fantastic business tool. Potentially.

Our company uses Skype on a daily basis and we are all very happy with it. However, the conferencing aspect really lets us down as the limit of 5 people in a conference is not ssufficient. Any change this will increase over time?

Skype really ROCKS!!! but is it possible skype packet or data can be blocked? And how do I know if my skype calls are filtered by those Telcos? Thank you.

I have tried to use the General feedback form for this, without success.
I am in Canada and wish to use this service here and wonder when we can expect CANADIAN #'s here. Toronto
Ontario for now....there are 6 million people in the 416, 905 and 647 exchanges.
I would like someone from Skype to answer me if at all possible. I did try the conventional route
Thanks
Cheers

UNTIL SKYPE FIGURES OUT BILLING..HEAVY USERS, LET ALONE A SMALL BUSINESS ARE FRIED!
I love(d?) Skype, and gritted my teeth tolerating the purchasing limits, and using only the "payment methods & amounts" that were "allowed" at a given moment, knowing that in 90 days I could use the service to my hearts content.
I spend 4-8 hours a day on the phone, so I thought I had found heaven.
Now, retroactivly, Skype has cancelled not only my most recent purchase...but also seems to have suspended my SKYPE-IN phone number.
No warning, no communication, no human intervention...just "ping, GAME OVER."
While I am extremely hopeful this can be resolved with only the limited inconvenience of a couple of days interuption, (and I won't have to throw away the stationary I had printed and red-faced try to recontact all friends, family and business associates I had proudly given my new number to), I reiterate Skype MUST find a way to accomodate those persons (or businesses) who aren't trying to "chat for free" but are ready willing and able to PAY for phone calls.
After all Google was buying a business, not an NGO, right?

Can I just second the comment by rsktech_rask - the ability to forward a call to another user would be very useful for us.

I work for a large software company with offices in twenty countries and run internal projects. I was about to suggest we consider Skype as potential internal communications tool. I must have lost my mind. Thanks God I decided to try it personally first. Here is my take:
The service is less than mediocre and the communication is not reliable. When you manage to connect to a fellow Skype user (failed 50% of the time) you may get excellent reception (45% of the time) or really horrible one (55%).
I then purchased Scype credit to try the dialing feature. Tough luck. I always get a message I need Scype credit. So I paid, but got no service.
Then I decided to contact customer support. Jesus, Scype makes Comcast look lighting fast and friendly. Getting your request to customer support is slow and awkward and good luck waiting for the reply.
To summarise - I would not advise anyone to try using Scype for serious business. Recomending this, unless you are the CEO, could get in serious troble. Scype is just mediocre.

Check out the brilliant Voicelink from Ipdrum, we use it to get Skype on our mobiles, and it has slashed our business calls by 70%
