Skype on German e-plus 3G network for 40 Euro flat rate

By My status Jaanus on November 9, 2005 in Skype around the world.

Here's something of special interest to our German readers, but cool to know for others as well.

A while back, we [announced](http://www.skype.com/company/news/2005/skype_eplus.html) cooperation with Germany's [E-Plus](http://www.eplus.de/OnlineShop/skype/default_ws.asp) mobile network. Back then not much actually happened, but as of today, this is available to customers.

You can get an E-Plus 3G (UMTS) data package for a flat rate of 39.95 €/month. Download, surf and make Skype calls as much as you can, no extra charges. We're not aware of many other similar flat-rate 3G packages, so it's probably another world's first. It obviously includes unlimited free Skype-to-Skype calls. If you want SkypeOut, you should buy [Skype Credit](http://www.skype.com/go/store). They even give you a free 3G card for your laptop with the package.

Plus, the first 5000 ones to sign up get a free Skype Starter Pack containing earbud+microphone and Skype on CD. So no more of those "I don't have a headset" excuses. [Go check it out and sign up.](http://www.eplus.de/OnlineShop/skype/default_ws.asp)

Here are some pictures from the announcement back in September.

A similar function is available across the UK!! Three of the major networks - T-mobile, Orange & Vodafone - offer 3G (UMTS) or 2G (GPRS) PCMCIA compter cards.

These cards can be slotted into a laptops PCMCIA slot to allow access to the internet anywhere in the UK - for a fixed rate.

I've been using the T-mobile 2G card (£9.99 for the card & £25 per month) for a few months now and its great! My laptop has built in speakers and microphone so I can chat anywhere and its like having unlimited anytime minutes for £25 per month - excellent!!

In Portugal we have three similar flat fee offerings from the three mobile operators. It started with the kanguru from Optimus, soon followed by Vodafone and TMN, and is 30EUR per month for 24/7 access limited to 10GB (traffic from 1am to 7am is not accounted for this limit). Great for skype users with laptops. Too bad that 3G coverage is mostly centered around big cities...

Hei !
olisin ostanut skype numeron, mutta valikko ei näytä suunta numeroa 015 - j.n.e. On vain 3ja 9 j.n.e.

Onko mahdollista että tänne (Mikkelin suuntaan ei saa ko.puh.numeroa?

Best Regards ! from Finland mr.kalle päärni

I'm not sure if any of you has noticed the notes under the vodafone packs. In Portugal, vodafone specifies that the 3G wireless internet pack is for data transfer ONLY. No VoIP is allowed! What is going on?
