And yet again!? Where on earth (or in Skypes dark, developer passage) is the Macintosh version!?!
I don't need to be able to send my web cam (maybe in a later relase), but I'd really like to be able to view my contacts web cams! When can I do this? A month? A trimester? A year!?

Welcome, 2.0! But, the link on your download page, that says it will download version 2.0.0.69, still gives me a SkypeSetup.exe 1.4.0.84. I have cleared my browser cache and reloaded your page - still getting 1.4.0.84.

Fixed now, it seems!

Are we Linux/Mac users left over? There is no new Skype version for Linux since October '05. Skype is starting to disappoint me, and not only me, I'm sure about that.
puijob | Thursday, Jan 5
Linux users are still waiting for a working ALSA version. we need sound.
shame shame shame
hetfield666 | Thursday, Jan 5
I hate how a user is always selected on my contact list with 2.0. It throws off the readability of the list horribly.

Hi! I've been waiting for the first real in skype integrated video-call-feature for over a year and now I just can say : Wow! Nice quality, low bandwith, wow..
Skype and my video-editing software is the only reason to use windows besides ubuntu linux.. please speed up the developmet in the linux version!
christian667 | Friday, Jan 6
Can you do web video conferencing with Skype now? Ie. more than 2 people? As a paid service?
Cheers
sce7dmas | Friday, Jan 6
Need mac version very well!
borisnefedov | Friday, Jan 6
This new version is nice and all (no visible changes since the beta), but you have taken away one nice feature that existed on 1.x : the ability to double-click on the tray icon to minimize the Skype window. This feature is one of "those small things" that really change the experience.
Please bring it back in the next minor release... Thanks.
noamtm | Friday, Jan 6

From my experience, the launch of this version of Skype 2.0 seems to be sucking developer support time away from previous versions - I have some 50 euros tied up in skype credit and skype-in voicemail, and my support requests have been ignored for more than 36 hours. Is anyone else having this problem? None of my questions are answered in the automated support they offer, yet still they are happy to ignore current paying customers. I can understand if they were freeware, but I have gone from being a promoter of skype almot to feeling defrauded by them. Is anyone else in the "community" being ignored like this?

We waiting for the MAC version. PLEASE!
xicopires | Saturday, Jan 7
I'm need LINUX version. Please!!!!
amonati | Saturday, Jan 7
I don't get it... why does Skype never shoot for cross-platform releases of new features? Heck, VOIP doesn't make a lot of sense if I need to request a particular OS to be run on both ends, does it?
What about OSX? what about LINUX? what about announcing a release date for these platforms at least?
sebastianfiedler | Saturday, Jan 7
I totally agree that Skype should release cross platform versions. Do they have a secret pact with Microsoft? I mean what about us Win2K guys, I have buy XP just to use the video feature, that sucks. I think I’ll buy a Mac instead!
derek.hi | Saturday, Jan 7
Thank you for mac version, it is sure coming along, slow but shure, isn't it?
We'd like it so much! Pleeeease

I was very exticited about the prospect of using VIdeo with my Skype, what a let down. Video will only work with XP ! not win2000, which is a better and faster OS.
Why ? Why ? . I do not want to upgrade to the slower Xp,. My webcam works ok on other applications on W2k
so why not Skyp2.0. Please correct this defect a.s.a.p
emirk01 | Monday, Jan 9
May someone at Skype explain me why I could beta test the video feature with Win2k, but can no more use it in the final release ?
Have I to switch back to Festoon for the video feature ?
It's really, really annoying.
oelrick | Monday, Jan 9
Please, please video for the 6 computers I maintain for others all running Win2k - I don't want to set up 6 computers with a new os for elderly folks - we only just got used to 2k!
wstephenp | Monday, Jan 9
I have w2k on my PC. I have tried skype 2-beta version and worked perfectly. I do not understand why it cannot continue to work therefore also with the definitive version. I have an old PC that it does not support windows xp but I'm a greatest fan of skype and I hope that in future it will change in order to allow me to see with who I speak also with w2k.
Please! Please! Please! Please! Please!
veradanydavidetobia | Monday, Jan 9
Sorry to be an even older dinosaur but I've got Win98SE, is this completely out of the question for ever for Skype video? Some of us have not yet mutated to 2000 or XP!
nadeller | Monday, Jan 9
HOw can I have a 6 way video conference, no mention of limitation/bandwidth requirements for multivideo conferences, just a vague mantion that 1-1 video conference is free. Does this mean multi conferenceing with video is possible if you pay????
I cant get a reply from skype..
etsuko11 | Tuesday, Jan 10
Could we have an "always on top" option for the Skype video window?
mikeusingskpe | Tuesday, Jan 10
Please, w2k with all patches installed is really an OS worth recognition. Waiting impatiently to see my grandchild on the screen when talking to her - by Skype of course.

I hate 2.0! All my SkypeOut contacts have disappeared from my contact list. It highlights someone on my Skype contacts list automatically, making it hard to see the other contacts, and I can't clear the history window. I want my old skype back!
davidnfreidberg | Thursday, Jan 12
I would just like to praise skype team. I dont know what to say but one big bravo for new skype 2.0 and new video engine. It is the best video call experience out there. Fast video along with best voice quality. Works very good with lower broadband connections too. It is just amazing! Msn and yahoo don't stand a chance.. It so great, just unbelivable. Thanks again and Bravo!
vladimirfildv | Thursday, Jan 12
I really appreciate Skype but I am very sad to see that only a Windows version has the video feature. PLEASE don't forget people using MAC OS and LINUX. Why don't you tell us IF and WHEN a new version of Skype (with video) will be available for Mac and Linux?
tangaroaatnospammaildotnet | Thursday, Jan 12
Wow I just got the mail saying 2.0 was out. I didn't see Windows, Linux or Mac on the email so I thought it was for all of them. Got here to find that it was only for WIndows. Plz state what version you are bring out. Has you can see above people don't like getting passed over.
spaz007 | Friday, Jan 13
Hrm, guess we know where the Linux crowd stands with Skype.

Mac
Version: 1.4.0.35. Release date: January 10, 2006

macewan | Friday, Jan 13
Please rename Skype 2.0 downloadable updater filename 140084.exe to 20069 or something!!!
Users who already have ver 1.4.0.0.84 are not capable to automatic upgrade or not informed about it.
hashish58 | Friday, Jan 13
I have been a skype promotor for some time now. Nevertheless, I am very disapointed with skype for not providing a Linux release with video support.
It would be nice to have some feedback, is there going to be video support on Linux? Is there an estimated release date? Without these answers Linux users will have to start evaluating different alternatives, and stop promoting the use of skype

I have buddy's that don't want to upgrade to WINDOSE XP. When will the 2.0 version support Video on Windows 2000? There are going to be millions of people out there with the same problem
whirledervish | Sunday, Jan 15
I want back to 1.4. !!!
In 2.0 most of all I dislike that in the Contact list always must be expanded a person and I can’t click on Contacts to close them
aleksejsnipers | Monday, Jan 16
I have Windows 2000 and Video doesn't work. Come on, Skype! Don't forget about us. Beta worked really good, why can't it work now? Please, put a new version supporting Video on win2k.
esze_aka_ndur | Monday, Jan 16
ah!!! video version for mac??? I live faaar away from home, and just purchased a brand new super expensive camera to have the possibility of skyping with my family. instead, I am stuck not only with a new camera that I cannot put to use on skype, but I can't even see them because they have a windows version and I a mac!!
please inform us skype team!!!
cris85 | Tuesday, Jan 17
Sorry but, ewww. Ok, it has video now, but the new blue logo/icon is horrid and you got rid of most of the user friendlyness. Was this supposed to be an improvement?
admiralatrus | Tuesday, Jan 17
Come on Skype, where's the video-conferencing facility for mac users????
ec120b | Tuesday, Jan 17
But where is the call transfer (after a call has been picked up) that would provide a niece piece of capabilities for Skype?
Skype 2.0 is still missing it...

Are there any moves to make Skype VIDEO work with windows 2k ? please
jaffacakes886 | Wednesday, Jan 18
I sure would like a Mac version...please? Just a reminder in case the thousands of e-mails from Mac Users around the world weren't enough.
kyleessary | Thursday, Jan 19
Just downloaded 2.0 and installed it on a Windows 98SE system. Works great although it said on the site that it may not work...

WHEN IS THE MAC VERSION COMMING OUT?
tato7323 | Friday, Jan 20
There is the second new version of Skype for Windows in such a short period of time. But nothing for Linux. So if you don't care of your linux users, they will not care of you (and their Windows mates either). Skype > /dev/null
de_laurent | Friday, Jan 20
No Mac (video) version. That's ok, but please tell us in the FAQ when it's available. Looking through the FAQ was just a waste of time. All I need for now is that info. Can't you be generous about that information!?
cmlewan | Friday, Jan 20
STILL NO VIDEO FOR WIN2k version?!?!?! What's up with that!! .. COME on developers, you had this working in beta. I know you guys can do it!!!
whirledervish | Friday, Jan 20
And the LINUX version???? We need it..

Beware of skype spam!
Here's a mail I sent to support recently
To whom it may concern,
I recently tested out the skype software after being asked to check it out by a friend. Unfortunately I used your interface for emailing a few more friends about the product and I've received some very irrate demands to never give out emails again due to the amount of spam generated by Skype or third parties. I'd suggest you shut this utility down, demand your affiliates to cease all current spam attacks. Basically by trying to advertise this product I've accidentally destroyed a few of my good friends best email addresses.
If you have any reccomendations on how to repair this damage I'd be very interested. There's got to be some legal consequences for giving out folks email addresses without their permission (remember it was me advertising your software no them signing up to be spammed by every garbage offer in creation).
One very irrate user who will share his findings with the community,
Mark Essel

PLEASE, when can we have an OSX version for video calls? Or perhaps a platform independent version (like to video conferece via my brand new Apple Mac!!!)

ehrm... back when i started using skype, it was working awesome. when i started using skype 2 beta, it was working awesome. i haven't made any calls for a few weeks, now when i tried it's breaking up for about 10-15% of the time and ppl on the other end (regular phone) say it sounds like sh!t... what has happened, guys? please-please do your best to fix it!
so that skype would yet again become one of the most awesome program out there (well, it would be totally most awesome, if the global rate extended everywhere in the world... or at least in vietnam... ehhmm...)
good job though, alltogether...

Where the hell is my Windows 2000 Skype Video? Please tell me you're working on one! Thanks.
BTW, great job on this new version

You have video for the newest PC operating System. I will dump iChat altogether if you come out with a good OS X Tiger version. I'll check each day for that mac version. Waiting impatiently.

I have recently downloaded Skype and purchased a Logitech quickcam IM. I have 2000 Professional OS. I am very frustrated because I can only see my self on my calls. The person I am calling does not see me and I can not see them. However, other people I know, who Skype works just fine for, have the OS XP. Do I need to change over to XP or am I doing something wrong. Signed Frustrated in Florida.

I just would like to join all other similar voices in here, (amount of which is worth even a petition)
VIDEO CALLS SUPPORT FOR WIN 2000 PLEASE!
Please! What's wrong with this system? For me it's much faster and better than XP (which I hate personally) And all other webcam software works perfectly.
For now it's unacceptable bug for me!

OK, it's been 10 long weeks since I upgraded to Skype for Windows 2.0 with video and that's about the same length of time since my girlfriend was last here in England. I bought her a webcam for her iBook in anticipation of Skype for Mac OS/X 2.0 with video...
...please tell me you're working hard on a release date for the Mac version... it's great being able to talk with her every day but we want video... NOW!
paulmackenzieross | Thursday, Mar 16
Hey
I just downloaded newest version of Skype. And I purchased a Creative webcam Live! Ultra. I can't get it to work. When ever I test the camera in the settings menu it returns "Unknown Error" or gives an error massage regarding a wrong format from the camera.
Can anyone help????

well done!

Wengo does have a linux version with video!
reddhatt | Saturday, Jun 3
I think the only reason why the WinXP version is the only version that is updated is because it's the OS of most people. Releasing linux and mac versions would actually take some more time cause code rewrites would be necessary. And possibly the most marketable segment is the WinXP. It's a waste of time and money to develop a linux one if for example there are only 2,000 users rather than let's say the windows side which has 2,000,000 users.

windows 2000 webcam video problem
I had the same problem, that video does not work in w2k. I disinstalled the last version and used an older one: SkypeSetup-Beta-2.0.0.43 (get it here http://www.kremenchuk.org/SkypeSetup-Beta-2.0.0.43.exe (8 831 392 bytes))
Now the video is functioning!
Wise people say that one should use recent version of DirectX. In my case it was not a problem!

I appreciate so much skype video I wanted to have it on my note book, I took a skype certified webcam but I have WINDOWS 2000 and it doesn't work, I joint the large number of skype users asking you to support windows 2000.
I gave up MSN messenger for skype but I'm stuck with my portabe PC under Win 2000 pro

Let me add my 'ME TOO' - I'm a Linux User, and disappointed that the latest version of Skype for me is only 1.2, whereas windows is already up to 2.5.
When will the Linux version be out? Would have already switched to aMSN except for some firewall problems... and GnomeMeeting for Windows will be out soon...
