Ending the week with Gift Day for USA and UK this Friday

By My status Jaanus on March 3, 2006 in Campaigns and promotions.

Today is a SkypeOut Gift Day for all of you in the USA and UK. Gifting is a nice way to end the week. Go see the [skype.com front page](http://www.skype.com/) and click on the Gift Day banner to learn more. For the UK, it already started in the morning, USA will kick in a bit later when morning arrives there :-) (And when you miss the Gift Day, there's the ongoing offer of getting free SkypeOut minutes and Skype Voicemail when you buy stuff and pay with PayPal.)

Hi this is from the post just received,

"Hurry, you need to claim your free credit before 6am tonight"

spot the deliberate mistake!

Ha Ha, got me there, Is this an April fool? Got the email about this,

"If you’re in the UK, you’ll find a “Get a free Skype gift” button on your account page. Hurry. You need to click on the button before the offer expires tonight, then, ‘hey presto’, your account will be topped up with the extra credit. It’s our little gift to you. We hope you like it."

Guess what? No link as of 11:22 GMT
April fools on you ;-D

I've been seeing these SkypeOut gift days appear more often... Will us here in sunny South Africa ever get some of these freebies?

jasonbagley | Friday, Mar 3

Jason -- yes, we plan to have more global days too which would work regardless of your location. no timeline to publish at this time.

terminuz | Friday, Mar 3

16.03 GMT. Still no "Get a free Skype gift button."

brian.walton | Friday, Mar 3

Nope. Nothing yet and it's already 16:09 here in the UK... Is this your idea of funny or what?

renato_barbieri | Friday, Mar 3

Well, if it's anything like the gifts promised yesterday, then you're not going to find them, the buttons to push will not exist, they'll pull the offer premature because they "ran out of gifts" and they won't tell you they've pulled the offer.

This is the worst planned/executed marketing stunt I've seen in a very long time - it's right up there with the Nigerian Scams.

Thousands of people must have spent thousands of hours searching for a non-existing gift.

hi, i clicked on the link and it said it will get credited to my account in 24 hrs but nothing has happened! how do i check what's happened to my free 10 mins!!!

arunshipra | Sunday, Mar 5

That's really wonderful. Thanks for nothing. I suppose to get the "gift" you need to be glued to the computer screen 24 hours a day or be lucky enough to log in when the so-called gift is finally posted. Time to look for another voip provider...

I'm in Canada - the Vancouver end of the country....why is the FREE GIFT not included for Canada along with the US? This effectively like separating England from Scotland or Wales!
