Skylook version 1.5 released, now Skype Certified, discount for Skype Blogs readers

By My status Jaanus on April 5, 2006 in Partner news and campaigns.

The folks at [Skylook](http://www.skylook.biz) are happy to announce that Skylook is now at version 1.5, a major update of Skylook. [See what's new there.](http://www.skylook.biz/whatsnew/)

In short, Skylook is a feature-rich Outlook add-on for Skype that has not only contacts integration, but also rich voicemail and messaging capabilities.

Skylook

Skylook is offering a discount for Skype Blogs readers. **Just enter the coupon code SKYPEBLOGS2006 when buying any Skylook license**, and you'll have 10% off the price. This offer is valid until the end of May 2006.

Another great news about Skylook is that they just became Skype Certified. Here's what Skylook says about the API and certification in the news. If you're a developer and want to learn more about how Skype Certification works, see our new [Developer Zone](http://developer.skype.com) and the [Developer Zone blog](http://share.skype.com/sites/devzone/).

> Leading Internet communications company Skype provides a rich API that allows third-party hardware and software producers to create products that extend and enhance the Skype product.
The API is open to anyone who feels they can develop a product around Skype. This has resulted in a “Skype ecosystem”, and has become one of a number of advantages that Skype holds over its numerous competitors.
While the Skype API is open, and there are many software and hardware vendors who have provided products that utilise it, only a few of these third-party products have achieved “Skype Certification” status. Skype only offers certification status to those products that pass rigorous compliance and quality assurance requirements. Recently these already strict requirements were tightened up further to ensure that only those products offering a truly smooth experience to end-users are certified.
Skype conferred “Skype Certified” status on Skylook 1.5 this week after a process that involved a number of weeks of testing, incremental improvement and retesting of the software. Jeremy Hague, cofounder of Netralia, said today: “We have been very impressed with Skype’s approach to us as third-party developers. While the certification process has been tough, they have been supportive and have worked with us to produce a better product. We really feel they are on our side, and we are very happy to have achieved this milestone”.

Skylook is a a horrible, horrible product that Skype should 'de-certify' immediately. After downloading, installing, and testing the product for a 30 day period, I decided that it did nothing for me. I have tried repeatedly to uninstall the product, but it somehow continues to replicate / reinstall itself on my machine, fully without my permission. This thing is worse than the worst type of spam out there. Skpye, since you folks stupidly 'certified' this awful product, I demand you tell us how to fully uninstall same.
