Hello again, global Skypers! After a wonderful week teaching eBay Live! users about Skype in sunny, hot Las Vegas, your resident User Story Guru is back and ready to listen to your Skype anecdotes...
At the moment, we are VERY interested in hearing from Mexican, British, German, and Japanese users who have relocated to the United States and now use Skype to keep in touch with their friends and family back home.
If this is you, dear Reader--and I hope it is!--you know what to do...
Contact me on Skype (indrisek), or send an email to 'scott.indrisek@skype.net' with the words EXPAT IN AMERICA in the subject line.

Hi Scott,
For me Skypes inovative implementation of VOIP technology is the future of Telecomms. No wonder Ebay bought it.
Skype has also made it more bearable to be away from our home and families. My wife and I live in not so sunny Seattle. I am a Brit and my Wife is Thai. I use Skype almost exlusively to talk to my family back in England including my two sons. Every weekend I spend probably 90 minutes on Skype with camera talking to my sons sometimes even do their homework with them. My wife uses Skype out exclusively to talk to her family in the north east of Thailand. From the US there is no cheaper way even to cell phones!! The quality could be better but I am 99% sure that it is a case of a congested Internet in Thailand.
On a broader note in this day and age where telecommuting is becoming a norm, at least for some roles and for some of the time. Skype is making this more palatable as not only can managers have instant communications with my staff they can see and conference with multiple parties....making it easier to do business.
Fantastic job Skype. Keep it up Skype

Hi,
With both my kids away in the US, I have been using VoiP for the past several years. Starting with Net2phone and now for the past 2+ years Ive been using Skype. Of late I find that the usual mode of creditcard payments are not cleared. This despite my creditcard company repeatedly confirming that there was no glitch whatsoever at their end. Moreover, I have been repeatedly prompted by the Skype site to pay through Paypal/Moneybrokers. This hardsell gives one to believe that the current owners of Skype are compelling payments to be routed thru Paypal & Moneybrokers. Probably they have interests in these entities. Is there any substance in this?
I reconfirm that I have never had any difficulty with Skype remittances in the past 2 years with the very same creditcards which are in perfect order.
Baring this - Skype is still operating well for me as in the past & I am able to keep in regular contact with my kids and business parties worldwide. Good product but pls refrain from patronizing.

I am a Brazilian citizen living legally in the USA (nowadays I feel like I HAVE to say that before anything

My family is in Brazil, the only family I have here is my wife that's American and you don't know how CONFORTING it is to have the skypeIn number from my homwtown so my mom, brothers, nephews and friends can call me here at local rates for them. It's like I'm talking on a phone back in Brazil, actually the sound is even clearer and I still have voicemail, something that a lot of Brazilians don't have there!
I'm really excited about having skype, so much I'm spreading the word about it to EVERYONE I KNOW. Every email I send has something about skype lately
There's one thing that I wish skype would do still: offer UNLIMITED international calls for a monthly fee like some other VOIPs offer.
Even without that plan I still have skype though. It's versatility (I can take my phone number with me anywhere I go where there's skype installed) and wide range of options and tools captivate me.
Thank you for the GREAT services offered. My next step now is to get ALL kinds of skype acessories... Skype is the bomb!!!
