Skype talks about "feature: Flag emoticons". What is this and how do we activate it?

Cool - but any news on when we'll see these new features in the Mac version?

Does this version still allow video in Windows 2000, as it says it doesn't on the download page. Beta 2.5 does allow video in Windows 2000,
Please advise

HOLD THE PRESSSSSS !!! Beta 2.5 still does not work. The web cam issue is still in the system. Greyed out web cam dialog box and skype defaults to a windows defaults device on install. Since when does a stand alone pc have a default video cam ?? Have all the latest versions of software needed and hardware to boot, and the expertise !.
Can the creators of beta 2.5 migrate the video version of Beta 2.0 into 2.5 refine and hone the programm so that it works. Tough words I know but somebody has to say them !!!

I just "upgraded" to version 2.5 from 2.0. They now promote thier pay services in the program, it's annoying. More importantly, THERE IS NO VIDEO CALL FUNCTION!!! In the version I have there aren't even video call buttons. Version 2.0 had a link while in a call to start video, 2.5 has no such link. Let me repeat, there is NO VIDEO in my version of 2.5.0.113 release 14-Jun-06. Plus, I haven't found a link on the Skype site to download earlier (non-beta) versions.

It's always happy to hear a new version released. But unfortunately, I still can't get the video working in Windows 2000. Same camera works in Windows XP. Directx 9.0c is updated but didn't get any luck as well.
looking forward to any update.
Thanks.

2.5.0.113 doesn't hide contacts that are not sharing details, such as landline and mobile phone contacts for Skypeout, even though there is a button to check for that option. So, I've re-installed the previous version which does until that feature is corrected.

Just finished loading Logitech Notecam Works on computer..... Skype doesn't see it even though it shows one time as other than default. No problem with 2.0 but 2.5 is not working for me

I'm glad you got a new release out for PC users, but what about us Mac users?
When will you have Skype video for Macs?
It's really a pain, and the only thing stopping my entire family from switching from AIM to Skype. (that's a lot of people by the way)

How come there is no download link in skype.com for downloading skype BETA 2.5
ahnafkamal1 | Friday, Jun 23
what about up-to-date linux and macos clients??

Since downloading 2.5 I can't talk on skype and run webcam using yahoo (which many of my friends still use) nor can I talk to my mother using skype to landline! I loved skype previously, but it is frustrating to not be able to chat AND see my family and friends at the same time when previously I COULD do that. Anything I can do to correct this problem?

My issue similar to Bob's.... worked fine before and now won't work!

After waiting a month I tried today the Jul 12 release and I'm very disappointed... First thing I checked was the test webcam button... The first time I opened the options dialogue there was even my cam listed, I already thought "yeah it works" but after I clicked the button... nothing happened, still the same greyed out preview window and reopening the options a little later just ended up in a greyed out test webcam button... So for all of you hoping the Jul 12 release would fix it, I'm sorry, no change at all it still doesn't work...

Skype for Windows 2.5 Final Version?
I hope not because this final version it is not ready for me. I tried to install it four times with the same result: It screws up my webcam. Skype grabs my camara on and then freezes it. Go to tool and the buttons Test webcam and Setting are dead. I close Skype but leaves my camara on, if I go directly to my webcam it does responds,it tells me, it is being used by another application i.e. Skype. Solution, dump Skype 2.5 and instantly my webcam is released. Then I had to restore my computer to an earlier date, this reinstalls my Skype Version 2.0 and everything is back to normal and it works like a dream. I have done nothing that I have not done before for it to work straitgh away. And do not tell me that my computer is the problem, I've got a four months old dual-core compaq computer running XP Professional. Skype 2.5 doesn't seems to be picking up the default settings somehow. If you think I can do something extra at my end, please write a comment on your blog. Otherwise you have to work on another Final Version MarkII.

Skype Beta worked perfectly before. Now the video doesn't work at all. My Webcam still works fine with MSN messenger, though. So that's what we're using. Too bad because I really preferred Skype. Fix it!!

Both myself and my friend installed the new skype, since then our webcams don't work. We are really annoyed about this. We are also having difficulty using our webcams on yahoo. I am glad to see it's not us or our computers and that this seems to be a fault with skype. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

I have a Logitech cam wth built in mic that works easily on MSN and Yahoo. I cannot figure out how to load it on to Skype. I cannot test it since Test Cam is greyed out. Also loading Skype 2.5 to my PC causes problems. I have blackouts and grey rectangles appear around the names of my icons. AOL Home page and sites from Foxfire appear partially as color negative as does my desktop photo. When I remove Skype 2.5 from my programs all returns to normal. Also there is no response from the Help. Please explain!

My version is 2.5 and cam works fine. Problem may come from DirectX version. To know which version you have, press Start -> Execute, then type "dxdiag". A window will open. In System tab -> System Informations, the last line tells you the version. It should be 9c.
If it is not, try upgrading your DirectX version to DirectX 9c:

Note that if you have 9c but the person you are talking about don't, video will NOT work.
Cheers,
Tiago

I am having trouble installing skype 2.5 on my XP laptop - it crashes my computer during install. (It installed OK on my Win2K desktop though.) Could it have something to do with the IE 7 update I recently downloaded?

I'm having no joy finding the Test Webcam Button which I understand is on the video options screen, but I can't find that either!
