"Talk for Britain" — and indeed they do
By
Jaanus on October 26, 2006 in Campaigns and promotions.
Last week, we announced this Talk for Britain campaign for the UK. In short, buy £10 of Skype Credit before the end of the year, and get free calls to UK landlines for the 6 months after your purchase.

Now... what we also did in connection with this campaign was a survey of the Brits' talking habits. See the full release. Some highlights below are pretty... er... interesting. Then again, I'm not sure that the results would be so different if we did this in any other country. I've been on the phone from all sorts of funny places too, but toilet... hmm.
According to the research, almost three quarters of respondents admitted talking to friends and family while on the toilet and 17 percent have actually fallen asleep while chatting on the phone to someone else.
The research revealed that respondents admitted that their worst phone nightmare was being told what they did the night before because they were too drunk to remember. Also, it appears that women like chatting on the phone while soaking in the bath and almost a quarter said that they had been caught talking to someone they shouldn’t have.

So really. Go talk for Britain.

I think you get free calls for the next 6 months NOT until the end of the year. Please amend your post, there is enough confusion about this promotion already.

mattm_uk The offer lasts until the end of the year but the free calls are for 6 months but I agree that he made it sound like the free calls are until the end of the year.
Anyway it's not a bad offer but I'm still waiting to hear if I have to switch my account from euros to pounds just to be able to take advantage of it.

mattm_uk - thanks for your clarification, indeed, you're right and I updated the post.

akelsall - Whatever currency you prefer the campaign still works the same. We have specified pounds as the target market is UK and this way our users there have a better idea how much they are spending and winning.
So go on, talk away

Can we get this in the states too? ^_^ (assuming you don't decide to extend our existing promotion.)
It'd be great for me, seeing as I use skype instead of a landline (especially since I don't have a landline; I don't like feeding archaic institutions desperately trying to screw me to stay alive.)

sporkwitch - we're still working on our next year's US plans. There will definitely be something
so please stay tuned for the news.

It gives me a bad feeling, not for the money i could save if i was entitled (this is quite small), but because ... US, UK, France, Germany, Canada!
What about smaller countries, not important enough for eBay-Skype? There are also customers in smaller countries!

I join hotairpilot.... signed in, paid 25 euros, and got no news.... I sent 2 messages with no answer... I just think Skype is like others.... "please send the monney....I feel free to not to comply my offer" \les promesses n'engagent que ceux qui les ecoutent.
