SkypeIn now available for Dominican Republic

By My status Jaanus on March 15, 2007 in Skype Beta and new releases.

Well hello now... who are these? None other than Dominican girls at carnival in Taíno garments and makeup. Taíno is a type of indigenous American ancestry, and according to the CIA World Factbook, about 73% of all Dominicans are of mixed race, that is, of mixed European, African, and Taíno. And altogether, the [Dominican Republic](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominican_Republic) has almost ten million people.

And Dominican Republic has now joined the proud club of (currently 15) countries and regions who can claim having their own SkypeIn numbers which you can now buy and use.

SkypeIn for Dominican Republic

When was the last time we added a new SkypeIn country or region before this? I can't remember. Too long ago. But I hear that now we're picking up the pace of SkypeIn expansion again, and Dominican Republic is the first of the "new wave". So keep an eye on this space for more news.

If you'd like to buy a Dominican Republic SkypeIn number, just head over to [Your Account](http://www.skype.com/go/myaccount) and follow the instructions there.

What about Italy, Spain, Argentina?
Is it a regulatory problem?
In Italy for example there are others providers of VoIp numbers: http://www.messagenet.it/

I vote for Cayman Islands.

No, no, just kidding. Actually, I would much prefer to have Russian SkypeIn, at least for Moscow and St.Petersburg area codes (but some nation-wide area code would be OK too).

I'll vote for China. I've seen another voip provider are offering Chinese phone numbers.

Skype is getting left behind on dial-in. A setup called DIDWW offers loads of countries and cities and has a fantastic feature which allows you to map their numbers to your skype name. In other words, they are selling skypein numbers. More expensive than skype, but excellent quality and service.

I can't believe there aren't Canadian SkypeIn numbers yet! VBUZZER offers them and Vonage! I've used skype for years, but I'm almost ready to move to another service. One that offers Canada numbers. We should have been one of the first countries offered on that list.

IsraelNumber.com can provide a forwarding of numbers from Canda/Italy/Spain and many other locations to your Skype user. The cost is about 15$ setup, 15$/month for most locations. unlimited incoming call, fix cost, no long-term commitment, multiple numbers.
