This is great news for New Zealanders looking for an alternative. I have been waiting for a long time to have a SkypeIn account as I do not currently have a landline (dissatisfaction with telecommunication providers here).

I agree with being surprised by the lack of media interest; this is a huge step forward for this country where for years have been ruled by monopolies and lack of competition in this area.

But what about Italy, your european manager could succeed in his own country or there are many other interests in between?

Spain should be on a very high priority, since there are so many foriegners here. They have a large need for a simple and cost friendly solution to talk to family and friends. Since Tekefonica is a bit corrupt, I guess that Telefonica is blocking it. It will not surprise me at all. It is not the first time I come across dirty tricks by them.

finally Romania. I'm glad for that. We have a beautiful country. Maybe you hear a lot about this country. Visit Romania is a kind of "India of Europe" full of contrasts but is a positive experience.

I wish I could create a SkypeIn phone in Russia. I know quite a few people who have relatives and friends in Russia, who can not affort international calls. Having a local number for incoming calls could solve the problem for many thousands around the world.

I can't believe Canadians do not have access to local skypein numbers, yet. My igloo is totally equipped and ready to go, yet I cannot get a skypein number with my 519 area code.

Another vote for SkypeIn numbers for Canada. I agree it seems odd that Canada wouldn't have been one of the first few countries added unless there was some type of regulatory challenge.
