Intermittent trouble with Skypecasts

You may have seen a note about Skypecasts in one of my recent posts. But because there are still some access problems, it wouldn't be fair to have any mentions of it buried deep in the blogwell. For the freshest information on this, see Ray's continually updated entry on Heartbeat, but here's the situation in a nutshell:

* Access to Skypecasts is intermittent for many users
* Those of you using Skype for Mac will not be able to join Skypecasts due to a problem with software-version recognition in the Skypecasts directory

We're sorry about this. It annoys us too. But believe you me, our engineers are working hard at their ironing boards and hopefully, them wrinkles will be gone before you can memorize the lyrics to the Spanish national anthem.

Update: The problem is now fixed. Wheew! Just be sure to use Skype 2.6 for Mac, as Skypecasts won't work with earlier versions. On the other hand, the sound quality is so much better with the new audio engine that there's no reason to doggedly try to use older releases anyway.

This is extremely frustrating, why would there be released software that cuts off so many users. Get it all ready for both platforms, then release it. Now half of the guys in our Skypecast can't join, myself included on a brand new iMac G5, just sitting there staring at a blank screen. Please fix it soon!

I agree with pixel-pablo. Us guys from "down under" are unable to join in on any skypecasts at all! May I encourage the techos involved to work a bit harder. The system has been down for over one week. WP

I've also a problem w/ just ceated cast +9900111472491418011 - it drops me & anyone just joined line after a second or earlier. Tested on last stable and on beta.

Yo man! The problem lasts since the 10th of June ... today is 26the of June ! Does it take really a hole month to solve the problem of the Skypecasts ? Or do you need another month to solve it ? I would like to ask you another question : Why the "Live" button doesn't exist in the Linux Skype version ? Until when ?

I have been reporting that the new version of Skype No. 3.2.0.163 have a lot of problems. After I down loaded this version the Windows explorer does not work. They said they are working in the problem, but they still have the same version in the internet to download. Why? They know this and they still want people to download a version with so many problems. I can not even get to my E-Mail without explorer giving me errors. If I removed Skype I have no problems with Explorer

When I try to host my own SkypeCast, I'm booted off after only 15 seconds. I'm also wondering... What are all these dozens of computers Skype is talking to when it is idle. (See the network tab of the Windows Vista resource monitor by using ctrl-alt-del)

ever since last night i'm getting "internal error #5", "call failed", or some other error messages like those when i want to join a skypecast. before these, i also had the "15 seconds and out" bug, but it would be intermitent.
please fix the problem soon. the skypecast service is cool and we want it back

Im new to skype my reciept is#61499540 yet I still have no service. Sent email have not had response.Would you please fix this problem.

I'm on 3.5.0.229 and can't get into my SkypeCast. See many other people are having the same issue as reported in the forum:

If it is not working for a significant number of people, it would be nice to have an announcement.

I can't join my own Skypecast as host again after three mornings of repeated attempts to connect. My only success was yesterday after 10 to 20 attempts. How embarrassing! You'd think when they designed this that the system would give HIGHEST priority to the hosts to connect. Otherwise, you end up with too many Skypecasts without moderators.

I'm using the latest version 3.5.0.239. So, they still have not resolved the "call failed" issue which apparently has been going on since the Spring.

BETA typically means you've got a fairly stable platform for users to test. Looks like you need to take it offline until this "call failed" issue is resolved. Or, FOREWARN users that the system requires EXTREME patience (i.e. 20 to 30 connect attempts) to use.

I can't get into Skypecasts as of Oct 25 with version 3.5, something is wrong here. I create a Skypecast, but can't sign into it.

hi please help me i am trying to create my own skype cast but every time i try am join it as host i am told that i need the latest verion of which i have got please help me robert.gillan@hotmail.com

Trying to joing a skypecast for the first time and it takes me to a page that says "You need a new version of Skype to use Skypecasts." I on on a mac running OS X 10.5.4 and Skype version 2.7.0.330. Checking for updates informs me that there are no updates available. Please help.

Just to give more info, this happens on both the latest release of Safari and Firefox 3.

WIKIPEDIA has informed me that this is yet supported for Mac OS X. I wish the error message would have told me so I wouldn't waste my time.
