Hello again,
We are pleased to announce that the situation continues to improve. The sign-on problems have been resolved. Skype presence and chat may still take a few more hours to be fully operational. We know what our faithful users have been going through and we thank you for your patience and kind support.
If you are one of the minority who may still be experiencing problems, please be patient. You do not need to adjust or restart your computer. Skype will start working for you very soon.
We will issue a further update when we know that Skype is functioning normally, or if there is further material news.
We’ve commandeered extra supplies of pizza and coffee, and we can promise that the Skype people aren’t going anywhere until they’re happy that everything is back to normal.

I have the impression that these problems have been building for some time. For several weeks, I have had serious problems with presence detection and more recently have had several messages delayed by hours.

I was having problems with presence detection as well and couldn't find anything about it on the forums, so assumed it was one of our computers.

JUHUUUU!!!! here in little Denmark everything seem to be working. Both of my parents computers are online and both calling as well as chat seem to be work just find along with everything else. so to all of you at Skype there have been working long hours and worked hard to solve this THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!!
However I am still waiting for just a short explanation from the Skype management on what actually happened as so many Skypies where keen to know yesterday world wide. But I am sure Skype will let us know as soon as everything is up and running again. If not this secrecy will start to be embarrassing for Skype, and I am sure we are many there will be wondering if this secrecy is to cover over a real big security problem. So in other words, I need some sort of explanation (just a short one) or I will find other ways to call me friends and family cheaply over the net.
Cheers Casper

This is funny, I think my skype started working about half an hour before midnight and I left just before you posted this
Now it's morning and my status is still green!
Thank you,
Petra

Yes, thanks for getting it all back up and working. It is doing fine here where I live in the U.S.
However, since I pay Skype both for SkypeIn and SkypeOut service, what kind of compensation are we going to get for not having service for two days? That's kind of tough to deal with when it's your only phone.

Man, I actually feel sad for you guys. I'm a software developer myself and I can imagine what a nightmare it might be like doing fixes like these.
Keep up the good stuff

Hi from Daytona Beach, Florida. I'm very happy Skype is up and running again. I'm sure there are many of us with only Skype for any type of phone service. It wasn't easy but we all survived. I think asking for any compensation from Skype for the trouble, is absurd. What is really the cost of per year to us? Not enough to warrant the expense or manpower required to refund us a few cents. So lets save the resources for something more important like keeping the cost down as it's been.
i do have a problem since the latest upgrade. The playback device is not being found by Skype. I've gone to every available menu and at no avail.
This happened during the down time after i upgraded to the latest version. Yahoo messenger with voice works as it did before. I only subscribe to Skype out to talk to my daughter overseas so I can't call even the Skype test call. I wondered if i should uninstall Skype and reinstall.
I can't find an answer anywhere. Help!
Thanks so much,
Marlene
