Skype 3.0 for Windows Phones
By
Peter Parkes on June 29, 2009 in Announcements.
It’s better than ever before – the Gold version of Skype 3.0 for Windows Phones is now available for download.
It includes two cool new features: SMS and file transfer. Sending SMSs using Skype is a great way to reach friends and family instantly anywhere in the world – Skype’s low rates mean that you won’t have to break the bank to do it. And file transfer lets you send files quickly when you’re on the move.
We’ve ironed out the remaining wrinkles since the Beta release, and it’s ready to go. Download it now and give it a whirl.

Months ago I downloaded the beta version of 3.0 for WM but I disinstalled it as it had a bug, now I installed the official version but that bug is alwasys there, here it is: to dial a number in Italy you must ALWAYS including the area code and when you dial from abroad you have to dial it entirely, including the inizial "0", so if I have to call Milano I have to dial 0039 02 xxxxxxx, if I dial the number in this way with Skype 3.0 the inital zero of area code and Skype dials 0039 2 xxxxx which is uncorrect and of course the call con't be fullfilled.
On the other hand if I call a number which is stored in my contacts, such "0" is dialed correctly and the phone call is successfull. How can I solve this problem? Is it really bug or I am soing something wrong?

@maurcory I’ll pass that on to the Windows Phones team – thanks for letting us know.

I have an HTC ozone phone. I downloaded the latest version and it appears to connect the call, but I can't hear anything either through the phone or through my blue tooth ear piece. Am I missing something?

I am having the same problem as mik89211. I have an HTC touch with a plantronics bluetooth headset. I can only get audio over the speaker phone, not the headset. Nor can i use the handset, only the speakerphone works.

I have an older HTC Hermes (Orange SPV in UK) and I downloaded Skype 3.x for mobile. It worked perfectly over a wifi connection and I was able to send SMS and make calls over a few days.
Then, when trying again more recently, I see that I am unable to make call or SMSs. Skype opens, and appears to log in (automatically), and I see my contacts but I don't see any online presence for my other Skype contacts. It's as if I'm not actually connected to the Skype server. This is the case on several wifi networks, including the one that worked fine first time around.
I have tried all the usual things - log off/on, reboot phone, and re-install Skype. And during these issues I have been using my Skype account on my laptop without any problems.
It was great while it worked, but maybe I am missing something? Also, my older phone seems to cope better (in terms of processor/memory) with this version compared to the last, so well done for creating something that is lighter on resources than before.

Wish: Is it possible to include an option to include the outlook contactlist on your Windows Mobile, just like on the regular windows version ?

I have the same issue as mik89211. And I tried on iPAQ 5550, Dell 1331SE, T-Mobile MDA. Both of them using Wifi and I can ONLy make 1 or 2 calls, then, the entire internet connection will go bad.
Hopefully Skype can give us some reasonable explaination or solution.

Also have had the speakerphone only problem on HTC touch HD and also on HTC Touch pro 2, it's really irritating as I want to use it to call my friends who are travelling and I have to use the pc

I have encountered exactly the same problem with my HTC Touch Pro HD and the HTC Bluetooth Headset (which otherwise works perfectly with the phone).
I just cannot get the Bluetooth to send/receive the Skype audio which continues to come out of the devices speakerphone. This is really frustrating.
If anyone has found a solution, then please do let me know.
