Skype Toolbar 1.1 for Outlook released

We’d like to /bow/ to everyone who’s pinged us about the occasional wrinkles, bumps, spots, and hiccups in the public beta product. We’re very grateful for the information and heaps of feature requests which helped us improve the thing, so you could all become happy campers in toolbar-land.

The newly-released public version 1.1.0.37 brings the following changes:

  • feature: Support for Outlook 2007
  • feature: Skype language settings are used for Toolbar
  • bugfix: Uninstall from Toolbar did not work
  • bugfix: Journal items were not created
  • bugfix: Mailto links were misfunctioning on some rare cases
  • bugfix: Outgoing calls sometimes created double Journal entries

Skype and Windows Vista update

There have been numerous questions about Skype and Windows Vista relations.

They used to have some occasional hiccups, but for a while now they’ve lived together in peace and harmony. In other words, Skype 3.6 for Windows is now certified to run on Windows Vista.

We’d like to remind to you that to get the best-possible experience, you should be running latest Windows updates and driver versions.

Skype 3.6 for Windows hotfix

Skype has released a hotfix version of Skype 3.6 for Windows.

This updated release solves many issues found on the previous version and it is recommended to update for everyone.

Among other changes Skype is now certified for Microsoft Windows Vista.

Newly released version 3.6.0.244 brings the following changes to Skype:

  • change: Internet Explorer plug-in updated to version 2.2.0.147
  • change: Audio device checking before placing a call and changing to windows default if previous device is not found
  • change: Re-enabled config.xml keys for higher resolution and frame rate video
  • bugfix: Skype generated high amount of page faults
  • bugfix: Skype crashed when unknown PSTN number was added to conference call
  • bugfix: Skype crashed on occasionally when computer was locked
  • bugfix: Skype crashed infrequently on shutdown
  • bugfix: Contact search window was incorrectly drawn when there were zero results
  • Localizations updated

Skype 2.6 for Mac hotfix

Skype 2.0 Beta for Linux update

Thank you for your comments and thoughts on Skype 2.0 Beta for Linux. We’ve now released an updated version of the software, a hotfix that solves many issues you’ve highlighted. In addition, it features a few new things that make using Skype on Linux easier and better.

As this is still a beta version, there are still some bumps and glitches that we’ll need to get rid of. If you run into one please let us know so we can make Skype better for you all. You can report problems on our public issue tracker and discuss things on Skype forums.

The newly released version 2.0.0.27 includes the following:

  • feature: Command-line login functionality provided by —pipelogin
  • feature: Show when someone is speaking during a call
  • feature: API: Add GET/SET WINDOWSTATE functionality
  • feature: Shift-Enter in contact list will activate the opposite default action on the selected contact (call instead of chat and vice versa)
  • improvement: UYVY conversion for Apple iSight cameras.
  • improvement: Changes to ease CPU usage on v4l(1) cameras
  • improvement: Support for more resolutions on v4l and v4l2 cameras
  • improvement: Avoid flickering in the call window video area
