Skype 4.0 Beta 1 for Windows (hotfix)

Today we updated the Beta 1 build to include some bug fixes. There's no other change to functionality, that will come with Beta 2 towards the end of summer.
We'd like to thank numerous persons who have taken their time to give us their thoughts, feelings and expressions on the new version. Keep them coming to us over the summer season, so while you are taking your time off to relax, we can work hard to make sure that Skype 4.0 will look and feel exactly as you wish.
You can discuss Skype 4.0 for Windows on our forums and submit issue reports on our public issue tracker Jira.
Download the updated version from here, but remember that it's in public beta state which means that we are working on it and it may show it's tender sometimes.
For all the technical people, the new release carries a build number of 4.0.0.150 and it has following changes:
* bugfix: Renaming contact did not work correctly
* bugfix: New audio device notification was wrongly presented sometimes for SoundMax devices
* bugfix: Incoming chat notification was played when it should have not
* bugfix: Changing ringing device changed also speakers
* bugfix: No sound was played when sending chat message
* bugfix: It was not possible to remove echo123 from contact list
* bugfix: Skype crashed sometimes when recording voicemail
* bugfix: Getting Started Wizard misbehaved sometimes after making test call

Where is the "skypeme" and "not available" status ?

I have tried to install Skype in on my work computer and I keep getting the error message 1603. I have tried to find a fix and can find one via the website. Skype works well on my home computer with a similar setup
Any ideas?

There is issue with this version. When skype is running but you are not signed in and you start the executable again, instead of the sign in screen to appear again it automatically sends you to the main screen with the contacts.

when switching from old version to new version in group chats noticed that the links i had in the title did not function. Other group chats that i am in did however did have hyperlinks that work.

There is no option of Creating public chat in tools in the skype.

On installation, I get the following errors:
Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\SPhoneParser.FoundSkypeNumber\CLSID.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel."
installing skype failed; Code 1603
A fatal error occurred during installation.
I am unable to install earlier versions, nor any versions at all. My Skype account is totally unusable at this time. Any help would be appreciated.

None of these things worked for me until I played around a bit. I found that the install goes perfectly if in the installation wizard you go to Options and uncheck every option there.

I am using Win XP Pro SP2 with Zone Alarm Pro firewall, NOD32 antivirus all with latest updates. Skype update from working version 3.8.0.188 to version 4.0.0.206 failed with code 1603. Older version is uninstallled. I followed all suggestions from Skype support thread related "error code 1603" but without success. Removed all Skype related files/folders from system partition and all Skype references from registry. Pluginmanager.msi file not found on the computer. Could not install several older versions. I am kindly asking for help/support to install Skype back, preferably the latest version.

I had a similar problem with Skype 3.6. Even after I uninstalled is ver 4.0 would not install properly.
I downloaded MS file "msicuu2,exe" from Microsoft and ran the program and is got rid of the ver 3.6 residue so ver 4.0 would install.

I have tried to download the latest version from 3.8.180. The message I am receiving is failed - code 1603. Older version of skype cannot be removed. I have tried to remove from add and remove programs and it will not let me do that either as it says the installation product does not match the installation source. Any ideas on how to correct? Thanks

am running windows vista, tried to download 4.0. Got error code 1603. The Fix for this was to download the revo uninstaller
(freeware) from www.revo.com. open the uninstaller, click on skype 4.0, select advanced; when it gets to registry files, select all and delete. it will cleanly uninstall, without harm, then go to skype 3.8, and install.

To Skype Administrators,
Please tell me what the point is of having this forum where Skype users are taking the time to post questions, yet NO ONE is taking the time to answer any of them? What the hell are you wasting everyone's time for if you have no intention of responding to anyone? Questions are being asked over and over again, yet I don't see even one person's question being answered. And you expect people to want to PAY for a service like this? Skype is meant to be IMPROVING but all I see is a RAPID DETERIORATION.
Not impressed at all!!!!
