But I have noticed that when "chatting" with a contact (which you now call "conversation") you used to be able to see a scribbling pencil when the other party was writing a reply. Where has that gone now? It doesn't seem to apper any more!

I have installed v4.0.0.206 there is no SkypeMe mode. Is ther a fix available. I like the version accept for the no SkypeMe mode

I have the same problem montynabong has there is no "skype me mode" to allow people to know you are available for chat. This 4.0 seems quite different but with all the changes Skype left out some of the basic features that the old version had. Secondly, understanding that Skype is a free chat service why does it not have some control over posted fake profiles with links to pornsites and auto responders? I find it rather annoying that there are 8 to 15 million profiles on Skype and 80% of them are linked to porn. I wonder what the real intentions that Skype and Ebay had in mind?

mine is the same problems i.e. I cannot chat with skypeme mode, nor can i search for users who is on skype me mode. I'm using version 4.0.0.216.

i am also facing the same problem as mentioned in the above post.i am using skype version 4.0.0.216.there is no "skypeme" mode.i am not able to find people who are online as well as make myself available for chat to others.is there any additional patch that i should download?

i wonder if this blog ever being looked up and answered by skype team who developed the versions which we make complain?it would be nice if we get suggestion for the queries we ask.

Sometimes, I do not have the time to search for and contact them, but it is helpful when they search for me. Sometimes, someone from a country will add me and I will never know that they are useful to me until suddenly, I realize that I will be going there soon!

please put back "skype me" mode back It doesn't hurt much receiving spam every now and then. I'm still using 3.8; because it is much better as a social network program, but 4.xx have many new features I'd like to use with friends!

I have the latest version 4.1... It is just as bad as some of the previous versions for being difficult to use. The original versions allowed a user to see who is online displayed at the top of the screen. Now you have to search. The webcam sets up okay and then Skype makes it into a microphone without notice. Sound doesn't work well then. Snapshots taken in Skype do not automatically save anywhere even when you choose save. Where do they go? My profile image is gone now and I can't get one off my vid cam to replace it...not as easily as in the past. Want to Chat, forget it. No menu item for Chat. Want to get an invitation that someone sent? Forget it, unless you are online at the time it is sent, there is no message. There is a notification that fades away, but if you don't grab it immediately, it is gone forever. The programmers who changed the screens obviously do not know that "ordinary users" not just hackers are trying to use the program. Too bad, it used to be a great utility.

Is it possible to get an earlier "user friendly" version of skype?

If I use an earlier version of Skype, will it allow me to communicate with other users with the latest versions?
