USB and Bluetooth Audio Fixed
By
Ryan on May 23, 2007 in Skype for Mac.
Thanks everyone for the feeback on last week’s post. We noticed many of you pointed out that some Bluetooth headsets stopped working with last weeks 2.6 for Mac release. I just wanted to let you all know this is fixed now. Download the updated version or wait for the brand new auto-update to kick in if you are already on 2.6.

I've noticed that import contacts from address book is still broken. I have submitted a bug report and been told this is a known bug. Why has it persisted through so many releases?

What about the USB? It's in the title but not mentioned in the text itself.

I find that skype can be much more improved for us Mac users , to many buggs and to less future like they have for windows.

Re: my (coraclepottery) earlier comment about window position using 2.6.0.140
I wrote too soon, when I actually resized my contact window before quitting, it seems to remember size and horizontal screen position, but it resizes using the bottom of the window as a reference,,,, so it always opens in a lower screen position than the one it was left in. Anyway my hopeful post earlier remains just that- hopeful. - coraclepottery

I've found that the quality of SkypeOut calls is generally appalling. Using the same headset, voice quality in normal Skype-Skype is fine, but I've rarely if ever had a satisfactory call to a mobile. Is there something you can suggest or should I just avoid using that 'feature'?

Hi
First, congrats on skype for mac.
Second, some comments. I am using the latest 2.6.0.140 on a macbook intel
1. the 'about skype' window doesn't go away once invoked, can't be moved and I have to quit skype to get rid of it.
2. I can't vary the volume of my headset separately from the main speakers. I wish to run all sound apart from skype through main speakers and only skype audio through the headset [logitech]. I set wkype to use the headset, and via main sys.prefs/sound I set all other sound to main speakers. Using the system preferences on sound I can alter the volume for the main speakers, but can't find any way to alter the headset volume. I cannot find the equivalent of the sound widget from the windows version. Is this feature missing, or have I overlooked anything?

To David about the About window:
I thought the About window wouldn't go away, too. However, I found it will disappear if I click lower in the window starting at the motto "Take a deep breath." and below.

Hi, I'm an intense Skype user, both on Mac and PC. This software improved a lot my personal and professional life making much easier the communication with people. Anyway, I'd like to give some suggestions (above all referring to Mac version) that I find necesssary.
1. I cannot organize my contact list in groups. That would be useful for a better visualisation when u have more that 20 - 25 contacts, and you use Skype for work.
2. It could be useful a function which tells you when a specific contact is on line. For istance, I'm waiting for somebody to be on line in order to send some file and talk. I don't want to start a "one-side" chat with a message like "call me when you're on line", and I don't want some MSN-like invasive message about who's on line. It would be fine to have the possibility to select a contact and post a sort-of "ring when he / she is on line" warning.
3. When I want to send a file, I cannot have a preview in the browser window. This is not so good when I have to send graphic files, when the name is not always so explicit about the contents.
4. As far as I know, is not possible to have a conference putting together normal Skype contacts and Skype Out contacts.
5. When I search for some contact, the only way to be sure that I'll find the person is knowing the exact Skype name. All other data seem to be unuseful in this sense. Maybe the search field could be improved in such a way that could be possible find people, for instance, with name family name and birthplace or something like that. Maybe, it could be possible to make "mandatory" to fill certain fields in the profile window when you sign in as a new user and then everybody could simply choose wich data can be used in order to be found by other people.
Nothing else. Skype is anyway, the best VOIP software I've ever tried.
Bye.

The new release of Skype (2.6.0.140) has still big problems. It get's stuck continously, so it happens that people call me and they are sure that my skype is ringing, while on my computer nothing happens. If they send me an IM, it seems to them that i've received it, while i haven't received anything. If i restart skype, i can see all people that have called me and the IMs received. It's a serious problem, so i've unistalled skype 2.6 and i've installed again the 2.5 version. Besides, my video gets stuck, people see that i'm not on line while i'm on line, etc.
I hope you will fix in a short time all this important bugs.
Bye

I'm using iBook G4 with Mac OS 10.4.10. I'm using the latest Skype. I bought a new skype headset with a USB audio adaptor. I've already set audio presence with the input and output of of the USB Audio. I can hear with the headphone (of the headset), but when I spoke, skype closed down itself. when i switched back to the build-in mic (i.e. the one on the left-hand corner of the iBook), and headphone, it worked fine. is it a problem of the software or what? I used the audio headset (the mic) to record message with other applications on my ibook, it worked okay. it puzzles me what have gone wrong. Pls help.

My computer is the PowerBook G4 and I'm running the latest OS X 10.4 operating system. I'm able to hear the Skype test call just fine through my Plantronics .Audio 645 headset, but Skype isn't picking any vocals when I try to leave the message. I did check my system setting and see everything looks to be correct. I also see that my computer is registering my vocal pattern while set to the headset. However Skype is not transferring it to or across the net. Why is this and anyone have any ideas?
