Philips VOIP841 Planned for December in EU

I've had quite a few people asking about availability for the Philips VOIP841 cordless Skype/DECT phone.

As I mentioned yesterday, there is at least one US customer who has taken delivery of one, and news reaches Skypegear that Philips are planning on getting the VOIP841 into the EU Skype online store in December, hopefully in time for Christmas.

US shoppers may have to wait a little bit longer as it sounds as if Philips are planning to launch over the pond in early '07.

In addition, EU customers can already pre-register in the EU Skype Store for another cordless Skype/DECT phone: the DUALPhone 3088, which should ship next week.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, like the DUALPhone 3088, the VOIP841 doesn't need a PC to make calls, and just plugs straight into the RJ45 connection on the back of your wifi or ethernet router.

Finally, it looks as if there will be more announcements on cordless Skype phones at CES in January, so watch this space for more information as I get it...

I actually bought the RTX 3088 in "Bilka" shop in Denmark this week for approx 110£ and it is really cool. The MMI is close to the description given for the Philips, but I guess that this has been a requirement from Skype.

The range of RTX 3088 is actually better than my Beocom 6000 in suburban environment! Speech quality is also nice (Wideband audio?) compared my earlier DECT phones. Of course if the Skype connection is not the best quality this will be reflected to the sound quality in the RTX 3088.

Until now I am fully satisfied with my RTX 3088

it's almost Christmas. is that phone available anywhere?

When will the DualPhone 3088 or VOIP841 be available in Canada or US? I am really looking forward to purchasing one...

HI there, latest on US and Canada on the VOIP841 is first quarter of '07. Regarding the 3088, I will let you know if I can get any more information on release dates. Rgds, Steve

It appears that ComputerCity here in Denmark just got this thing into stock. I hope they will hurry up and send me mine, that I ordered two weeks ago!
The price is 1299 DKK (about £130)...

I've called Philips' support phone numbers (888-744-5477, 800-233-8413, 800-526-7452) and no one seems to know anything about this phone. I can't get any availability information for the US, let alone someone to acknowledge that it even exists. This post along with the user guide:

Anxiously awaiting more info and the US release of this product...

Good news! I managed to order the phone online in denmark from the Netherlands. They will ship to everywhere in Europe and maybe even further?. You have to do a bank transfer to the store and they will send then directly after receiving payment. The online store is in Danish: http://www.itmagasinet.dk/ however if you send an e-mail in English to post@itmagasinet.dk they can send you further instructions (currently they have 400 sets)... Looking forward to receive my phone within the next few days... I also called customer support of Philips today and they said release in European Community countries is in February 07 (probably due to EC regulations, where Danmark is not a member) .

Okay, so I got my phone just before christmas, and am generally happy with it, although it does have its flaws.

The headset is necessary for this phone!
I was disappointed about the sound of the loudspeaker built in, but using a headset, this phone is nearly perfect.

So you can wash your dishes or cut your garden, while you are telephoning, because your hands are free !
The radius and distance of the dect-phone is very good.
I go upstairs, outside my house and it was still conected.

One mistake is the search-function:
You cannot search for contacts with Skype Me-Modus, so your results are mostly not online.

Where do we buy this Phone? I've waited eagerly since August last year and I want one! Problem, working in the electronics industry I know delays usually mean problems. So now I have a double dilemma, do I actually want one as soon as it comes out when there may be teething troubles to iron out????

I purchased the Philips VoIP841 from nycommsdirect and had excellent service. Furthermore, the phone is excellent. One question, anyone know how to save your password so that you don't need to enter each time you sign in? I'm prompted to save it, but it still needs to be entered each time I sign in.
