Yes, as you probably guessed from the quotation, we've decided to merge the Skypegear and Mobile blogs. Why? Well, I suppose that now Skype users have a whole host of devices to choose from when they are deciding the best way to make calls via Skype. Mobile is one of those, as are the wifi phones we've seen popping up, or the cordless DECT/Skype phones, for example. We want a one stop shop for the whole 'ecosystem' (as it's called at Skype).

What this means is that we'll keep covering the latest phones and other gadgets as they appear, but we'll also look at new software and hardware partnerships in the mobile area a bit more closely. In the last couple of months we've already seen the beta of Skype for Mobile 2.2 appear as well as a groundbreaking partnership with mobile operator 3 in the UK to provide their X-Series users with Skyped-up mobiles, and there should be much more mobile to come in 2007.
