Firmware upgrade for the original DUALPhone
By

Now the original cordless DUALPhone has to be one of Skype's best ever selling phones, and holds a special place in my heart as my first Skype phone (aww!). The combination of being able to make Skype calls and landline calls from one handset was just what I was looking for.
However, apparently with the release of Skype 3 for Windows there were one or two compatibility issues, and so Danish DUALPhone manufacturer RTX have done the decent thing and provided a firmware upgrade to take the phone to version 2.22. This upgrade also ensures compatibility with Windows Vista for anyone who has January 30th (the Vista consumer release date) marked on their Pocket PC's calendar and a whole hunk of money in their back pocket.
Note however that, according to RTX's website, this upgrade is not intended for US customers.
To install the firmware upgrade, follow these steps:
- Place the handset in the base
- Click on the link (Dualphone setup 2.22) to download the latest version.
- Next click on "Open/Run"
- Important: when the software is installed on your PC, please leave the handset in the base for at least 15 minutes to allow the handset and base software to be fully updated.
- NB! Remember to select the country when you install Cordless DUALphone Suite so that your telephone will work after an update!
Credit to Nafcom for spotting the upgrade - thanks! Click here for details on installing it.

Stephen!
Thanks for refering to me, especially with the permalink! I am glad that my blog is a helpful source for IT/Skype news, even for Skype Staff themselves!

I am a US Dualphone customer who recently upgraded my PC to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. The most recent version of the Dualphone software available for US customers is V2.18, and I have found it to be incompatible with Vista. Does anyone know when a compatible US version will be available? I called RTX's US sales office and asked, but they didn't know and haven't gotten back to me as of yet with an answer.
