Exclusive Nokia E65 now available from 3's X-Series UK

Errr, well the Marketing guys at Three don't muck about with the messaging on their new product advertising, as you can see from the above. Reading between the lines on the above ad, it appears that maybe, perhaps, Three are now offering the whizzy E65 as part of their lineup of 'X-Series' phones.
For the uninitiated, these 'X-Series' phones offer a whole lot more than a normal mobile, packing in a range of applications and services such as:
- Skype - for making cheap or free calls
- Orb - for accessing files stored on your PC straight from your mobile
- Yahoo! Go - which gives you one-click access to a whole range of news, email and other Yahoo stuff
...and a whole raft of other toys to play with. The gold package also includes something called Slingplayer which, if you have a Slingbox rigged up to your TV at home, will let you watch all your TV channels via your mobile.
Three have also eschewed the standard brown and red colours, and managed to bag an exclusive black version, which looks rather like this:
The E65 is wifi-enabled, and features a high quality 2 megapixel camera, and a very hi res 2.4" QVGA screen. It also has 'Quick Office' installed, which lets you view Office docs on your phone. Apparently if you hit the little number buttons and then press the button with the green phone on it, you can make phone calls with it as well.
£49.99 up front will get you one of these on a £40 a month 18-month contract, which not only gets you absolutely loads of anytime minutes and texts, it also gives you unlimited Skype usage and unlimited internet through Yahoo! search and Yahoo! Go. Also available on X-Series in the UK are the Nokia N73, and the Sony Ericsson W950i Walkman® phone.

Yeah but you can't make calls to landlines with these phones ... what's the point?

Actually that's exactly what these phones do Charles-Phillipe! If you buy credit, you can call landlines pretty much anywhere in the world for super-cheap rates - also to mobiles. Check out http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/products/ for details.

Hi guys, I'm a newcomer to skype but have already signed up for skype pro. Am due to upgrade my mobile as well and I like what this nokia e65 has to offer. The clincher of course would be if I could run skype on this phone over my wifi network at home. Has anyone been able to clarify if this phone actually does run Skype?

At the moment the best solution is usung Fring as alternative to skype and Truphone to call for Free to about 40 countries landlines. Using both myself on home wifi and all unsecured wifi networks. Works brilliant.

For all you guys wanting to use skype from your E65, visit www.fring.com and follow the steps. I've only used skype with my E65 via wifi, and it works a charm. Buy skype credit, and phone landlines. Also has a pretty useful chat function.

WARNING:
REED THE VERY "SMALL PRINT" BEFORE YOU BUY ANY THREE PRODUCT OR SERVICE!!!
Well I have got a Nokia E65 phone, which is not locked to any network. Also bought a 3skype phone from 3. Swopped the sim card to the Nokia E65 phone, download the Skype application from the 3 network.
and guess what you are NOT allowed to use skype over the 3 network.
It is a a VERY dissapointing that SKYPE and THREE are not allowing you to do this.
Skype is promoting Three!!!
Three is promoting Nokia E65
And if you got both they PROMOTE NOTHING, NO SERVICE and hiding behind the SMALL print
Kind regards,
Jan Conijn
