Philips VoIP841 Skype phone gets good reviews both sides of the Pond

The VoIP841 is Philips 'one phone does it all' Skype phone. Plug it in to your landline and plug it in to your router, and suddenly you have a phone for making Skype calls from, whether your computer is on or off, as well as making or receiving regular landline calls. Nice.
It took a while to get here, but now its out the reviews are looking positive on both sides of the pond: leading UK PC mag PC Pro this week gave it 5 out of 6 stars, and the mammoth US tech site CNet rated it 'Very Good', giving it a healthy 7.5 out of 10. Both publications praised its "sleek design", with CNet finding it "convenient to use".
TO buy the VoIP841, visit the Skype Store where you'll find it for £119 / $149.95 / . Also available as a package with the corded VoIP080 handset for £129 / E179, a discount of £25 / E55.

Even when you talk flowers about your really fine phone, people would like to know the most important of all, the quality sound on the calls out, because using skype in pcs has been a really big nightmare en sound quality.

Has anyone tried to dial an extention number once connected to a number. I have a GE phone that is similar to the Philips but it won't allow me to dial an extention. For example if I want to check my work voicemail... I can dial the number but when you have to dial the # key and than enter your password it doesn't respond.
Does does anyone know if this philips phone allows you to do this??

This phone is great but it has 1 big problem - when you have an incoming call you can see the number but it does not show you name of who is calling even though the number is in your contacts. I have the latest firmware and Philips confirm this is a problem. This is a real downside.

To answer to bataanmd, I have this phone and yes, you can send dtmf tones while in a call, even when using skypeout. One suggestion to everyone wants to buy this phone is to get better rechargeable AAA batteries. The 750mAh supplied really don't go far. I have found some 900mAh and it definitely improves. If you use the phone a lot, and with skype enabled always you will, with the standard batteries you hardly manage to go through the day.
