Caller ID & Skype 3.2

In case you missed it, there’s been some interesting news out of Skypeland this week: the introduction of Caller ID for SkypeIn numbers (for some countries) and the release of the final version of Skype 3.2 for Windows. What does this mean for gadget lovers? Read on.
Caller ID for SkypeOut
It’s certainly been a long anticipated feature to have the calls you make with SkypeOut appear as though they’re from your SkypeIn number. Now a server-side improvement is making it happen. It’s not worldwide yet; currently only SkypeIn numbers based in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, Hong Kong, Estonia and Poland are working. But negotiations are underway to make it work in more places. If you don’t have it yet, keep an eye on Your Account—you’ll see an option there when it’s enabled (read the official announcement from Skype blogger Jaanus here).
Skype 3.2 for Windows is official
The final version of Skype 3.2 for Windows has been released (get it here). The focus is on personalization and many features have been added, including:
- Saving a video snapshot as your photo
- Big improvements in audio
- Viewing your account and leaving call feedback from within the client
- Sending money
- Multi-device presence
Gadget lovers will appreciate multi-device presence. It may take a firmware update for some of your devices, but it means that if you’re logged into Skype with multiple devices (like your computer and WiFi phone), the status you set most recently will be synced across the devices. Pretty useful. You can see Jaanus’ announcement here.

Is the post's heading image a capture from a page of the skype's website? Could you please post the link to that page or a link to the full image? I like it very much and I find it very inspiring.

When will caller id for the US work? I bought SkypeIn because I thought that was necessary...

As of January 2008, there is a software program that now creates caller id for United States Skype users. It's at http://getinfo.us/skype/callerid/
Run Skype first, then run the program (SkyID Caller Identification). Right-mouse click on the SkypeOut contact you want to call within Skype, and go to DO MORE, and then goto (Caller ID) Start Call.
The software is for free but the service cost a few cents per minute.

Is this for real!? One cost after another... How do I know this isn't a ploy by Skype to make extra money by charging for a SkypeIn number and then CallerID?
Oh yeah! Awesome site btw...not really...
