These are great; it motivated me to share my Skype story.
My son recently got sent to Europe for by his employer for 3 months of training. Before he left, he got a new computer and sent me his webcam, since his new rig has one built in. We decided to keep in touch via Skype. It's really cool to talk to him face to face while he's in Switzerland, but that's not the story. I discovered while talking to him that I could record his calls for his mom to hear if she's not at home while we talk. That came in handy for my work, too. You see, I have a home studio and produce audio commercials and other recorded material for radio stations, the web etc. I recently got an assignment requiring the use of some celebrities' voices who live in various other parts of the US. I don't yet have the rather expensive ISDN equipment needed to record phone calls, plus, with ISDN, you have to pay an even higher than normal long distance rate for the upgraded lines. Turns out, with Skype, I didn't need it!
I just called them on Skype, turned on my recording software (Adobe Audition)and it automatically recorded all I wanted, and the quality is great, too! One of the guys even had Skype, to so the call to him was free! Sorry ISDN! I can cross that pricey ISDN off my shopping list! Thanks, Skype!
