A VoSky Skype PBX Gateway: the easy way to Skype up your entire company

By My status Stephen Pinches on May 5, 2007 in Business, VoSky.

So you set up your company a few years back, invested in a whole PBX infrastructure, state-of-the-art phones, switchboards, basically the whole nine yards. And then, just as you starting depreciating all that expensive kit, along came internet telephony with its cheap calls, low overheads, integration with chat, and general Web 2.0 loveliness. What to do?

Well, VoSky are a company who have already built a reputation allowing home users to use existing kit to make Skype calls. So it is a natural extension for them to use this expertise to put together a Skype PBX gateway which offers exactly the same benefits (plus a whole lot more) to larger companies. Skypegear Roadtest: Panasonic KX-WP1050 Wi-fi Skype phone with Wireless Travel Router

By My status Stephen Pinches on February 23, 2007 in Business, Panasonic, Wifi phones.

So you arrive at your hotel, exhausted after a long flight in a far-flung part of the world, unpack your bags, power up your phone to call home only to discover: no wifi network. Yes; Panasonic have packed into their neat little travel box not only a slim little wifi Skype phone, but also a little mini travel wireless router, which you can use both for the phone and, if needs be, for your PC or other wifi-equipped devices. Available now to US customers, Skypegear got to test it at home and away...

International Architects get a full Skypeover

By My status Stephen Pinches on February 20, 2007 in Bluetooth headsets, Business, Cordless phones, Logitech, Philips, Polycom, Webcams.

Life isn't easy being an international firm of architects. Gone are the days of waltzing around in black polo-necks, talking Bauhaus and minimalism and wearing thick black specs to impress the ladies. These days, clients are demanding, deadlines are always imminent, and the boundaries of creativity always ready to be pushed.

It is these kinds of pressures that, with offices across the UK and in Prague, architects  Lewis & Hickey operate under. As you can see from their website, Lewis & Hickey are far from conventional in their approach to office space and working practices, and so Skype were delighted to work with them on the first Skype for Business showcase in the UK.

Doing the business, Skype style

By My status Stephen Pinches on October 12, 2006 in Actiontec, Business.

An interesting post over at VoIP lowdown yesterday asked what Skype needs to really win over small and medium sized business users.

Now, 8-Port Rack-mountable PBX Gateways may not exactly be dinner party conversation material, but Actiontec's announcement this week that they were shipping their new Skype-loving PBX gateway in the US goes a long way to answering this very question.
