Skypers can Talk for Britain!
By
Jane Hoskyn on October 19, 2006 in Skype special offers.
This "giving stuff away" lark must be addictive, because Skype just can't seem to shake the habit.
Their latest freebie promotion for UK Skypers, Talk for Britain, gives you six months of free calls to UK landlines if you buy some Skype credit. That means you'll be able to keep your Skype credit for other things: calls to mobiles, calls to overseas landlines, that kind of thing.
The offer starts today and ends on December 31.

This is a fantastic offer, but questions are being asked on the forums about the currency.

The terms specify £10, but not everyone in the UK is using GBP. What's the official recommendation for these people? Do they change currency to GBP, or can they spend the same amount in Euros and still get the offer?

Your link seems to be broken - looks like you've left the http:// off the front. (The Preview button's not working, either...)

Skype seem to be acting with the usual incompetence on this one. I purchased some Skypeout and got an email to say I could not get the free time .... RIP OFF Skype !!!

I bought 25 Euro credit in response to this offer on 19th Oct and it does not seem to be working. Still being charged for UK (+44207 ...) calls.

I bought €10 worth of credit yesterday evening, and this morning I got an e-mail saying that my free calls would start in three days. Wonderful! Great service.

Bought £10 worth of Skype credit on 20th October, 4 days later still waiting to get the free calls notifcation from Skype. Absolute garbage service from Skype, something you can geet away with when you are offering a free application but NOT when customers are paying for the service. I have raised a support request., but having raised 2 over 4 months ago I am still waiting to hear back from them regarding billing.

I also bought 10 pounds worth of credit and have likewise been informed today that they cannot give me the promised free landline calls. I have also sent in a support request, but based on previous experience, I have not great expectation that they will even bother to reply. I guess my only resource is to write to the newspapers about it.
