Skype hooks up with 3

The newly-announced beautiful relationship between Skype and mobile giant 3 is manna to globetrotting chat addicts... and telly addicts.

A 3G mobile phone with Skype built in, that also lets you watch and control your home TV wherever you are in the world? Yep, I’ll have one of those.

3's new X-Series phones, such as the Nokia N73 that goes on sale on 1 December, are fabulous little bundles of gadgetry. Not only do they let you make unlimited Skype calls using the 3G network, but you can also browse the web, watch your home telly using Sling (though you'll need a Slingbox for that) and access your home PC remotely with Orb.

So, is this magic gizmo any good?

I was lucky enough to road-test the N73 earlier today, and can happily report that I really, really want one. The screen is big and bright, and Skype -- like all the other built-in apps -- works like a dream. It's a world away from those clunky, yawn-making days of ye olde dial-up internet.

The X-Series will be priced like fixed line broadband, but 3 isn't giving away any numbers yet. As soon as they spill the details, you'll be the first to know.

I love those package. The programs can be installed on E-Series phone. But I can't test it because skype quit me. Slingplayer for symbian require 3G and can't use WLAN. So I am still have to keep dreaming about using all of them on my E61.

Please advise - will I be able to use skype video calls with Nokia N73 while in WLAN hotspot?

If not, any other model you suggest, that allows to make video calls in WLAN withougt any delay?

This looks great, but where do I download the Skype software for my N73 from? Can't find it anywhere...

Have a look at these instructions on the 3 site - and give me a phone if they don't work.

You discuss all kinds of crap about having the Skpye on N73! We know but how can you leave out the most important thing to tell us where and when and how to to download it??!!! It seems too stupid and you just waster out time reading those nonsense

I have just brought an E65m with the pre installed Skype. Reason I bought it?? I wanted to be able to use my Skype credit from my phone to call my girlfriend in Thailand cheap. The problem - YOU CAN NOT USE SKYPE CREDITON THE VERSION INSTALLED ON 3!!!! What a bloody con!! What's the point of having it if it's not a full version??? and will there be a plan to allow you to use the Skypeout feature or not??? NOT IMPRESSED!!!!

I have a N73 as well, but I am in New Zealand, and the service provider is Vodafone NZ.
Is there any way to Download Skype for my mobile without it having to be a "3" Mobile with "pre-installed" Skype??

with this link u can just enter ur phone number and u will recieve a text from skype with the right link
im not sure if it will work on all phones but fingers crossed
