A To Go number lets you make cheap calls to your best friend abroad without spending a fortune. Whether that’s your backpacking buddy in Australia, granny in Nigeria or wife in the States, it could cost you as little as 1.4p per minute.
So what do you need to do?
- Download Skype onto your computer
- Sign up to Skype Pro for £1.50 per month
- You’ll receive a To Go number as part of the Skype Pro deal
- Choose the friend or family member you want to call who lives abroad
- Then enter their international number and in return, Skype will give you a local number to use instead
- Phone this local number - your To Go number - and you’ll be charged as normal, plus the SkypeOut rate for the country where your friend is
If you have a mobile contract with inclusive minutes, then you’ll be able to call your friend at SkypeOut prices whether your at your computer or not. Not bad, eh? ![]()

I can't say for sure when it'll be available in Italy, but we're working to bring To Go to as many countries as we can.
If you subscribe to Skype's Italian blog, you'll be the first to know

Hi. I have ~received a to go number for new zealand to us on my UK mobile, and I have credit on my account. I have now tried 3 times to use the number. Each time the number rings for 3 times, and then my mobile says the line is busy. I checked with the overseas "real" number and they tell me that their phone has not rung, and no one was on it. I,ve now spent a small fortune on 3 mobile calls to new zealand and I was hoping to use the service now. Help please. Also Skpe and paypal do not seem to link up to set up auto recharge.

I tried to setup my skype to go but there isn't an option for Nigeria as one of the countries I would like to be calling from the United States. Why is Nigeria not on the list. Thanks
