Political Skype

I'm not normally one to mix blogging and politics, but I found this quite interesting: After Labour MP John Prescott made some comments on political blog Labourhome.org last week (and these were widely reported on in the mainstream media), PR Week UK hypothesized that in the near future "candidates will use Skype to travel around the country 'virtually'."
The candidates in this fall's American presidential election have been using the internet a great deal to drum up support (even if John McCain is only just learning how to use it). And recently Elizabeth Edwards, wife of American senator and former presidential candidate John Edwards, was using Skype to participate in a conference when her husband came home and made an impromptu appearance himself.
Are UK politicians ready to join the conversation on Skype?

I think people in politics should use modern ways of getting their message out and also by using skype it would save them money and the tax payer money. I also feel that they should also use forums where we can ask them questions direct.
We done a survey on our magazine site http://www.in2town.co.uk where we asked if they felt to much money was spent on election campaigns and the overall response was yes with people saying they need to use more cost effective ways to get their message across and by using skype this would be the ideal way
