Until now, Skype hasn’t done much in the way of advertising. Readers like you have been spreading the word, people have written nice things about us in the papers, but in Europe we’ve never done something as daring as renting a billboard or the back page of a magazine.
So, it might come as a bit of a surprise to discover that Skype’s taking its first steps into the world of TV advertising – and in case you haven’t caught a glimpse of it already, take a look at the clip above ![]()

Nice add!
But one thing... Apart from seeing in the PC screen a perfect clear image (un-realistic, even with lan connection), how can it be in that format? I'd love to use 16:9 when video calling... Display video on the entire screen, will result in the best posible experience.
(I know with mac's latest version, when sharing screen, size can be adjusted, but it's no the same).
Thanks for reading

Interesting question – you can actually tweak Skype’s video settings to send 16:9 video. There are instructions for the Mac version on our Developer wiki, and on Windows there’s a handy tool which will do the trick.
Of course, you’d need a compatible camera, and you do this at your own risk, but it can work pretty well
